Love these moves. Knuble has needed to sit for a while now. Gus should be able to play his game more with Foster instead of Bruno.

More speed with Z isn't a bad thing, I also prefer Foster to Gervais.

Gervais and Knuble out, Foster and Z-Man in.

This should be a welcome addition for the team tonight. I feel as though Gervais has been brutal of late.. Knuble could also use a few nights off, even though I think he has been more noticeable than Rusty.

Can they afford $12.5 million worth of salary though?

Sure, why not.

Lavvy seems to really like Rusty Fedotenko.

McGinn and Knuble both out...those guys do good work along the boards. I'd have gone with Rusty in the press box.

I saw where Harry Z now has #37. He should be safe with that one; I doubt Rico could make the comeback.

When did they pass on him?
- mayorofangrytown

I guess i was wrong heres the real reason from wiki:

As Brière's one-year contract expired at the end of 2006–07, he became an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2007. It was widely speculated that Brière would return to his home province and play for the Montreal Canadiens,[10] but he instead signed with the Philadelphia Flyers, who finished the previous season as the worst team in the NHL, to an eight-year, $52 million contract with a no-trade clause.[10] The Flyers front-loaded the deal, paying Brière $10 million in the first season of the contract, making him the highest paid player of the league in 2007–08, along with Scott Gomez of the New York Rangers and former Sabres teammate Thomas Vanek. His decision to join the Flyers is often attributed to the influence of his friend Martin Biron, who was traded from Buffalo to Philadelphia at the previous season's trade deadline. He later cited the prospect of anonymity in Philadelphia as opposed to Montreal as an additional factor in his decision.[10] Because of this, he is often booed by Montreal fans when the Flyers visit the Bell Centre.

The Flyers PK has come a long way since the beginning of the Season. Fedetenko is a big part of that.

Too bad. He can probably out play Foster and/or Gervais.

Mark Howe can probably still out play those guys. Give him a month to get in shape.

Yeah, but without Knuble who will be the extra attacker on a 6 on 5?

Gervais at least has better mobility than Foster. They're both pretty weak defensively.

Laviolette had enough faith in Knuble to send him out with the game on the line against Toronto, only to make him a healthy scratch the next game. Those are the sorts of things done by a coach whose tenure is in jeopardy; desperately throwing things at the wall, hoping something will stick.

Bill,
You have always said Briere is a class act. I find it hard to believe he would tell the Flyers no if they asked him to waive his NTC. I think it would have to be a team he is comfortable with, but I can't see him sticking to the organization so to speak. Your thoughts.

- psuhockey

I don't think he'd block a deal. But he plans to make his permanent home here and keep his kids in school here, so distance from Philly area may matter.

So in your opinion do you think we see Murray as the coach by the end of the year if things keep heading south?

I see it as a Coach who is looking to inject energy into the lineup. One thing is for sure, Harry Z will bring energy and speed to the lineup.

Unless Knubs got a little banged up in that game and they are giving him a breather.. I still think Rusty shoulda sat.

I honestly can't figure out why anyone would want Briere. Like everyone else, I really like Danny. But he's been mediocre all year long, and was fairly average last season as well (not including playoffs). His cap hit just doesn't justify his output.
- The_Universe

Other teams would want him for the playoff scoring. St Louis only scored 6 goals in 4 games when they got swept by the Kings last year.

His cap hit doesn't matter so much to teams with plenty of space, and he's only due to be paid $5 million over the next two years. St Louis has tons of cap space.

In the two games he has played to date he sure has been noticeable. Its a shame he doesnt have NHL level offensive skill to go with his speed.

I love that '82 show. Still gets fairly regular play in these parts. You know they put it out as an official release right (in case you want to clear away the fog):

My first shows were Legion of Mary Tower Theater Upper Darby spring 1975,
JGB Tower theater fall 1975, JGB Astor Theater Reading Fall 1976. First Dead show was the amazing Englishtown NJ show in '77.
We weren't old enough to drive to the Jerry shows but my friend had a cool mom who took us to Reading and Upper Darby.

Dont want to see Rinaldo on the 3rd line with Couts and Gags. Rather see Knuble or Talbot. Keep Zac on the 4th.

The next two games are must wins imo. A loss in either of the games and the homestand is basically a disaster. With 5 of the next 6 games against the Rangers, Devils, Bruins, and Penguins, the season can get away from them.

I think he should hypnotize them into thinking they're down 2-0 in Pittsburgh, they certainly know how to get a win in that situation.
