Going to the game tonight. Anyone buying this Briere rumor?
- Duran76

I think there's something to it. GMs from those cities he's rumored to be going to have spent some time in Philly lately and I'm sure it's not because they like Chickie's crab fries.

if that is true and they want to trade him and he doesnt then he gets bought out.
- Philly1980

Pretty much. I figure his days are numbered here regardless.

Thanks Bill for the dose of reality! I'm so tired of hearing about Seth Jones. I wasn't floored by him in the World Juniors... Seems like a lot of hype for a good (not great) player who won't make an impact for years.
- FlyersGrace

Jones has a chance to become a franchise defenseman but has a lot to learn before then. I expect several years of inconsistency out of him before (hopefully) he takes his game to the next level in the NHL.

I dont mean to get on the guy...Hes a beast in the playoffs. This season he needed to lead this team. Hes been quite. He isnt playing anywhere near his cap hit right now. If were not making the playoffs what use is he to us?

Emrick has a terribly annoying voice; like a hyperactive gnome. And he spends half the time talking about stuff that has nothing to do with what's happening on the ice, and the other half shoving in his awful catch phrases like "waffle-board". Just call it a blocker like everyone else does.

He's definitely scoring. I have him with a goal, assist.

I'll be sad if Danny goes. My head understands why he should but my heart wants to see him stay. I watch hockey because of him. I've never met him or anything, it's just he was the first player who caught and held my attention. From the first game I always recognized him when he touched the ice. I learned his linemates and now I'm a nut who avidly devours Bill's blog and even jumps in here to listen to you guys wax poeticly insane.
It's his jersey I own... So I have mixed feelings about this whole trade rumor about him.

I agree. He struggled last year in the regular season and down the stretch the year before. He's a completely different player in the playoffs but he's a poor financial decision at this point. Even if we make the playoffs and he tears it up again, I still think he gets bought out.

I hate the salary Cap because it turns discussion of the sport into this.

On a personal level, I agree. I love Danny and he's been one of my favorite players since he's been here but from a hockey stand point, his time is up. I'll be sad to see him go like I was with LeClair, Recchi, Gagne and Jagr but it is what it is.

Phish rocks, but as someone who followed the dead since the late 70s, I really miss going to those shows!!
- BiggE

The late 70s! You've probably seen some good ones! Spectrum '82? '89?

I didn't (couldn't really) get the Grateful Dead until I hit college in 1990. Caught as many shows as I could between '91 and '95 as they were fading...but still saw some very memorable shows.

I'll get off your lawn now

I just dread the idea of using an amnesty buyout on him, then seeing him sign for significantly less with a divisional rival. He'd become the harbinger of our sorrows, guaranteed.

KNIFED AWAYYYYY!!

I'm sorry guys but I just can't stand the way he calls a flyers game. It really sounds like he's surprised or.disappointed when the Flyers score, barring a "big goal" (one in OT, etc)

Agreed. I'm not actively opposed to the salary cap, but I wouldn't much mind it going away, either.

Yeah, that's my thinking. Him and old man Brodeur having another parking lot parade with Lord Stanley, blech.

That would only happen if Holmgren were the GM of the Blues. Trade a young guy for an aging vet with a big cap hit.
