The player for player part is a lateral move. The pick and cap space is what makes this a good trade.
- habby

its as if you completely discount the right-handed shot factor

I'm aware that Ryder is making 3.5 but his cap hit is 2.2 as per capgeek and nhlnumbers.

And what had Ryder done for the Canadiens this season and what hasn't Cole done for the Stars this season that makes you believe that?
- mr.peanut

It's better just knowing he is back in the fold, feels so good, it's been tough with out good old RyRy on the Wing

6 points in 19 games for 14 points in 19 games is very lateral indeed. I'm done.

Gionta still has value in my opinion, he just doesnt seem to excel in the new system. A swap of Gionta for Elias wouldnt be bad considering Elias is a UFA and if not resigned would leave even more cap for MB to play with in the offseason. The only thing is Elias is better than Gionta and will likely retire a Devil.

The only thing you've said that makes sense.

Ryder had 7 points last year on the PP, Cole had 11.

- habby

Maybe the other players on Dallas' PP didn't do squat? Or was it the other way around and he didn't help them?

You know who was once awesome for 19 games? Pierre Dagenais.

I agree with you, it's a good trade. I just think the reasoning that we're going to evaluate 2 guys after a lockout and 19 games is ridiculous. If this trade happens before 1 game this season you still think you feel the same way?
