Not saying Cole is the greatest in every aspect of the game, but compared to Ryder? Cole brings alot more to the table.

Oh i know 18 games very slow start and all that matters is those 18 games.
He will never be the same again

- Oilhab

This team is very different from last year, so it's hard to say if Cole's presence is as invaluable this year. Ryder seems to bring the same production and a better PP presence. We'll see.

Yeah, quite frankly though, at 18 I didn't want to wait...I was (frank)in' blind! (-6)...

I don't regret doing it that young...

We're still talking about laser surgery, right?

51 includes Kaberle

47M for 15 players leaves abotu 17M to sign 7

1- a backup goalie
2 - 2 defencemen ( if Tinordi or Beaulieu are ready they are cheap)
3 - resign DD
4 - a top 9 winger
5 - 2 fourth liners
6 - a 7th d-man

not a bad cap situation in my opinion

- hamiltonhabfan

They need to upgrade DD on size and speed and let him go play top line minutes on a bottom feeder.

The line had a playmaker and two netcrashers. Now it has a playmaker, a net chrasher and a sniper.
- CH1909-2009

Thanks EA sports.

Now the line has one guy that is late to the party at both ends and one guy that won't show up in the defensive end

Have fun max

I don't think he's as bad as you remember him being in the D zone.

I'll be suprised if Ryder is a changed player, he has always been able to produce numbers. Buying into the team defense mentality, Doubtful but you never know

Cole when he is recovered is a benefit to any team

I hope they find a way to trade for Clowe at the trade deadline. He shouldn't be that expensive. Could the Habs management have understood the "buy low, sell high" mantra?

Suggested line-up for tonight's game:

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Gallagher
Prust-Plekanec-Gionta
Eller-Galchenyuk-Ryder
Moen-White-legweak

Gionta will be hard to trade away but this should be the next attempt for MB to trade away.

Desharnais will eventually get moved, but I don't think this is something that necessarily needs to be done this season.

I can't even remember the last time they use this mantra, but this may very well be the case. As much as I liked Cole, this is a pretty good deal moving forward.

For such a bad contract, I think that yes, it could be considered as selling high. I could be proved wrong, though, if Cole gets back in shape.

I found the journalists' hypocrisy funny yesterday, all saying:

"ALL HAIL BERGEVIN HE FIXED ANOTHER GAUTHIER'S MISTAKE"

while they all said since last year that Cole was Gauthier's best move.

32 year old who had a career year. He slumped to start the season but even if he finds his playing style again, he'll likely never get back to last year's pace. It was a year were he got a boatload of default playing minutes because everyone else on the team was injured or useless.

Getting rid of salary long term, getting a prospect, and getting a similar player for the short-term. Yes, I would call this selling high.

To be fair, a few questioned the length of the deal at the time.
