Serious? so 14 when he was traded?
if it wasn't for that Calder the leafs never would of traded Rask for him
So it all worked out for the best - Oilhab
Good point
Don't think he ever was traded, he signed as a UFA with Boston IIRC. |

Do you not like the trade? - RyanZabizewski
- wrong time to trade him
- wrong player to bring in to "replace" let alone improve on
- (frank) the PP
- 5 on 5 will suffer with Ryder on the ice
- Ryder is who we know he is
- the cup is a pipedream
- Rentals should be for real contenders |

So what about
-Ryder is out playing Cole
-Cole makes more money for longer term
-Already showing signs of slowing down
-Hasn't done anything to help the team win
-His attitude in the dressing room was negative |

I think it's Tokharski but he just came over. Not any major prospects in G down there anyway. |

We will probably draft one this year with one of the 2nd or 3rds. |

With Cole gone and Kaberle to be dealt with this Summer, with some cap space free, I wonder what player Bergevin has targeted to bring to the habs? |

Ya that's very likely. My personal favourite is Fucale, but Comrie and Jarry could be good options too. |

have you been following the conversation at all?
Who gives a poop about 18 games,
Cole was Injured until December, was out of shape due to the injury and not being able to train properly
poop happens sometime players are out of shape, and it take longer then 19 games to get in shape and overcome the mental hurdles that come with an injury
You don't trade him just because he is having a slow start in a shortened season that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things
Since when is having a contract a bad thing
Would you have traded Cole for Cammy? Cammy is doing better then Ryder and brings more to the table
the only plus to the trade is that it was an early salary dump, but it could had been done later and they could have gotten a better return at the deadline when Cole is playing like Cole

none, the cap is dropping there will be no room to add someone.
So get pictures of Getzlaf or Perry out of your head before your boner turns blue and white. |

I wonder how many teams will be in trouble next year when the cap goes down? Maybe Bergevin is thinking of getting a decent player from a team who needs to get rid of cap space. |

The cap is dropping by like 6 mil no?
We got rid of Gomez and 7.5 mil, now Cole at 4.5 and soon Kaberle at like 4. I think Montreal will have some free cap space available. |

64 mil next year, the habs are at 70 mil, drop 3.5 mil for ryder and we are still over
obviously there are some other players that won't be back but you still have to replace them with similar players who will want similar pay give or take.
no room to add someone yet
Edit: Armstrong Budaj and Bouillon are the only UFA's
unless more salary dumps happen these are the habs that you will see next year |

The biggest problem with Cole was the horrible contract. 4.5 million was way to much for Cole the way he was playing. Cole didn't fit into the long term of this team at all. You can't say you were impressed with his game like it was? it's not the first time he's done that. He's only showed flashes of returning to form maybe once every third game.
You say Cole's value could go up, but what about if he continues this pace? If that happens then we are stuck with a 3rd liner making 4.5. The deadline isn't far away at all, I guess we'll see what happens. |

4.5 mil for 50 60 points is not horrible
if you are looking at just points, the market pretty much reflects a 10 points per million standard now adays
I never said i was impressed with his game so far, but i understand why he is having a slow start, and the team is winning so give him time

As of now, the Habs have $53,890,000 committed to next year. Plenty of capspace.
