My heart loves that Gagne's back and has the chance to retire as a Flyer.

My head wonders if he's going to be able to stay healthy and be able to adapt to a bottom-six checking role.

Gagne/Couturier/Talbot does look good on paper as a shut-down line, though. Or sub Knuble in there if you really want to turn up the nostalgia.

I think he ends up seeing PP time, too

Seeing more, I'm certainly less wild about the 3rd rounder, though they'll have made the playoffs if that's what they end up giving up, so that's a positive.

Guys, the Flyers can't legitimately simply tank and finish last in the league. That's not how they do things. They try to win, and I'm ok with that. This year's team right now is a very average to below average team up to this point in time. Anything that helps pop them into the playoffs is good I think. The worst thing that could happen is finishing just out of a playoff spot... that's more likely with the current team than legitimately finishing near the bottom and getting a top 5 pick. If that's where management thinks they may finish without help, than they should get help and try to make the top 8. Even if they get bounced, they still get more playoff experience. That'd be more valuable than finishing 9th or 10th in the East and getting a slightly better pick IMO

only thing i can think of it lets gagne get things taken care of before he's traded at the TDL for a bigger return

I'm looking for younger players not older players who are on the downside of their career's.

I'm going to the game tomorrow and I'd be lying if I didn't say I was legitimately excited to see Gagne skate tomorrow night.

Outside of that.....I'm not expecting much.

That's my point. Gagne or no Gagne this team isn't going far.

Keep the picks and trade your players at the deadline.

- stveshdy

In regards to the former, I don't think that's a certainty yet. Gagne or no Gagne.

In regards to the latter, I still think a fire sale should we suck at the deadline is possible.

Scouting report on Simon Gagne: As healthy as he's been in long time, still miles on the tread but not suited to play Darryl Sutter hockey.

Thank goodness for McKenzie. I feel much better now.

Third-round pick if Flyers make the playoffs. Fourth if they do not.

- PLindbergh31

Well, if they play like they have of late, it will be a 4th.. a third is a little high if we make the playoffs then get swept by the Bruins..

well going with that theme, it should be Dead Men Walking Line or the Green Line (the one that they have on death row)

Well, what's to say they still don't trade players at the deadline for picks if they drop out of it?

WTF is "Darryl Sutter hockey"?

We seem to have a team full of guys not suited to playing "Peter Laviolette hockey", so this sounds like a perfect fit.
