1995-96... Lemieux had 161 and Jagr had 149.

Mario had 69G 92A, and yes, he missed 12 games

92-93 was more impressive.

69G 91A and he missed 22 games

Don't forget, he had cancer that season too

That comeback when he chased down and took over LaFontaine in the scoring race was one of the most amazing thing that I've ever witnessed in sports.

Yeah, He was unstoppable that year. If he is healthy and plays that entire season, he breaks Gretzky's season record.

92-93 season by Lemieux is the best individual season in the history of the NHL.

One of the best moments of that whole saga was Lemieux getting a standing ovation on the day he returned from Chemo from the Philly fans.

That is one of the nicest places to watch a game. At least, I thought so when I lived their 10 years ago. No real traffic headaches, unlike Pittsburgh.

I went to college in NC and saw a few games at the RBC ( not sure what its called now) but its a sweet arena, good food, beer ect...easy to get around and the crowd is pretty good. Its a younger town too with a ton of colleges and good jobs in the area.

I feel like CEC for a new arena is nothing special. Standard crappy food and beer, I just think they could have done better. Phillips arena in ATL was great for concessions. YOu could even take shots of Jack if you wanted. Traffic in the Burgh is pretty good compared to most places though.

I would love to see an ESPN "30 for 30" style show about that season.

I just looked up the game logs again... when he came back, he was down by 12 points, and ended up winning by 12 points.

There was a 13 game span where he put up 45 points... 3.46 points per game... that is unreal.

edit: that was actually an 84 game season, so he missed 24 games. At his point pace that season, if he played all 84 games, he would have put up 224 points.

Hey cap, Ovi has picked up his game lately huh? The guy is getting back to where he left off 2 years ago.
- Orpik44

ehh, he is such a me first player. I'm happy the Penguins didn't get the 1st overall pick in 2004.

The crazy thing is, his first 5 games back after Chemo, he was still feeling the effects, only putting up 8 points in 5 games (great numbers for anyone else, horrible numbers for #66). Looking at the game log, he had a game against the Caps and a game against the Flyers, in those 2 games(over 3 days) he put up 8 goals and 11 points

I remember being seriously depressed we didn't get the first pick and the right to draft OV. Funny how things worked out with Malkin becoming the better player. I do remember there were some experts who thought Geno would eventually eclipse OV.

Please guys get off the ROR trade. WTF would we need another center for? Especially one who seems to want 5 mil a year? Not to mention the assets needed to get him. This isn't NHL 13 guys.
- dbell646

we were gonna give Staal 6mil for ten years... obviously it's not completely out of the realm of possibility. and with Malkin...

I'm just curious if Despres becomes expendable if Shero thinks he get a major piece at the deadline... an iginla or alfie, or ror. people insist of a wing, which makes sense, but the pens won the cup with 3 very strong centers. if it worked once before... why not again.

Nothing about Malkin's performance surprised Malone. He had to be pleased, though, that Malkin showed no effects of a concussion that kept him out him for about two months earlier in the winter.

Hope the weather is better in Florida than here. Raining cats and dogs and cold as a mixed drink with slushy stuff in it.

ah I enjoyed that, seeing as the weather here is suited to those type of drinks right now.

What are your thoughts on leaving Real Deal on Sid's line permanantly?

I think it would take away some of Neal and Malkin's defensive "issues" in that Sid is more responsible on the defensive side of the ice.

Sid, Kuni, Neal instantly become one of if not the best line in the league.

Leaving Malkin and Neal together for the playoffs just doesn't fly with me if 5 on 5 they aren't producing at a solid + clip.

I also think Malkin would be a more suitable partner for the top 6 trade acquisition. He can be the sniper and the player brought in would be a playmaking defensive winger. This IMO is likely more easily attained than a sniper who is defensively responsible.

Thoughts?

my only thing with this, is we know that for better or worse crosby is going to put up points without neal. can malkin be dominant if a trade isnt made and is forced to rely on whatever in house options are left? as dumb as it sounds i also wouldnt want to make him feel shafted the season before we have to try and lock him up long term.
