I don't like giving up a top D prospect AND a first round pick, especially in this draft, for a rental. It's that simple. If he agrees to resign in Pittsburgh, then pull the trigger. I'm not convinced he would. Same goes with Corey Perry.

Why everyone thinks Iginla will be asking for heaven come contract time? I really feel he could sign a $4 mil/2 years with us. Once he gets here he'll never want to leave, ever.

Exactly. The "little things" that make a whole lot of difference. If we can fix our main problem (bad penalties), awessome. Iginla can be a calming influence. He's a C in Calgary for christ sakes.
- Orpik44

The number one problem for me is team defense. I just don't think the forwards give a damn about preventing goals. Off the top of my head, I can think of 3 odd man rushes tonight. A close second is the "selfish" penalties. I don't know if one player can correct the nightly chaos of their current system.

I'd say a conditional pick. 2nd or 3rd if he leaves, 1st if he resigns.

I know what you mean. But I don't like when Neal, Crosby or whatever stay behind the goal and try to make a hard pass than loses it and we have odd man rushes.

Ive heard such awful things. Feel like Im almost better off illegally streaming it for free
- Deadstar

I'm lucky with gamecenter, no blackouts and the quality is awesome. I haven't had a chance to HDMI or wifi it into my new hd tv so will be interesting to see if I feel like Vaseline is on the screen.

Plus it's all I have for streaming live hockey.

We should work on something like this. I bet we wouldn't regret it if we can touch the cup again.

Or when TK goes wide and takes a slapper on the goal line and misses by 5ft and the other team now has a nice breakout into an odd man rush.

He was Brutal. Jefferey missed a golden opportunity as well. Still, can't complain about Jefferey when Tangradi got the chances he did

I think Neal had an opportunity in front of Theodore in the 2nd as well.

Yes. Iggy will not warrant an 8 million dollar contract while Perry very well might need Sid $$$ to be happy.

They sorely missed a net front presence. At least 6 rebounds bounced right off Theodore and clemmenson and landed right in front of the net. I was getting pissed at how no one was crashing the net

I agree, until he wins a Norris no more than $6, I would even say 5 because he cant really hit the net on a 1 timer. I like Letang a lot he's probaly my #2 fav Pen but I just dont think he's worth what some people claim.
- sammy87

i can see where you guys are thinking. its hard to make a guy a 7 mil player when the mental lapses are still so apparent, and the powerplay actually runs smoother without him. however, the talent and potential is still there in abundance. if guys like wideman are getting 5, you have to think that letang will, deserved or not, pull at least 7 if he so wishes

I think Pietrangelo will set the bar for Letang and vis versa. If Pietrangelo takes around 5 mil, the pens can use that for an excellent bargaining tool. If Piets takes 7+ mil then the pens are screwed

yeah. im really torn because he is such an integral part of this team, but the mental errors are just so egregious for what he is going to command. i think the pens are going to have a very diffficult time retaining his services. hopefully it all works out for the best long term and a prospect or two really thrives. although im sure we will never know because they will be glued to the pressbox anyway.

I'm really really hoping someone a prospect steps up and can take letangs minutes. We pull off a similar trade like the blues did sending Johnson to Colorado for shattenkirk and Stewart.

That would be Perry. But I'm positive we'll be able to give him a $50mil. contract for 8 years. He loves Pittsburgh. I'd be more than glad to sign for that kind of dough

He could get $7 mil on the open market, but luckily he won't be on that market until next summer.

I don't offer him a dime over $6 mil this summer. His hockey sense in the offensive zone hasn't gotten better, and if at the end of the season, Martin has better numbers than him, can he really demand that much more than we are paying Martin, Neal & Fleury?

Ain't that the truth. I'm not advocating moving Letang this summer, but it might be the only way that Morrow and Despres ever get real playing time.

Game over...6-4...we sucked on D

Hope we don't trade Despres. Trade Engelland + for Glencross.

- Orpik44

I wouldnt mind glencross and bring in cullen. Cullen should be about a 4/5 pick if gagne fetched a 4th.

That + will probably be a pretty significant pick for Glencross if Engelland is the centerpiece
