Ah I expect JAck to make the same bone head moves tonight with the lineup. KO getting 20 minutes Bailey getting 20 minutes Frans too. Expect Radek MArtinek as well to be out there again. It comes down to this Bruins 6 - 2 win. No way we win tonight after Carolina plus we never win at home, plus it is a National game

No sense in watching then... I might as well go to my AA meeting.

after hamonic's play this year i wouldn't be running at him with a 5 year contract...two sounds better
- NYI78

It largely depends on the amount when considering the term. If Hamonic accepts $3-$3.5 mil over 4 years, I think that's a decent deal. I have a fear he'll be asking for more like $5 million which makes it much more hard to justify. That said, he's done very well considering his age and is on his way to being a legit top 3-4 dman on any team.

understand that no one is knocking down our door, but with the announcement of Brooklyn, we dont know now what could happen. Also when isles signed Streit, no one knew who he was bc he was a 5th or 6th D on MTL, you never know who can take his place unless you give them the opportunity like the isles did with Streit.
- Ur Not Me

Agreed, but even if we were to sign a dman or two, it couldn't hurt to have Streit in a 4-5 dman role with pp time. That's more what I consider him cut out for anyway. At 3 years $3mil, that's not exactly breaking the bank.

Streit is like MAB great on the pwer play and that is all. He should be on the power play and play like 5 or 6 minutes 5 on 5

I agree... we need him.

He fills a need!!!

He just needs less minutes... and to quarterback the powerplay!!!

I do believe the isles will have alot of cap space to play with, trying not to think of saving the bank roll....

When it comes to line combos etc what else can Cappy do with the little he has. If Bailey or KO don't get the minutes then who does. I say bring players up and sit the dead weight. He really doesn't have much to choose from. The problem is the guys not working in their position and for the team. Whether it is 5,10 or 20 mins if they don't work then the Isles lose. Bring in guys that will work for a job and sit KO and company. Unless Snow makes some changes what else can he do. Its why he called them out in the post game the other night. If you want to play individual play tennis.....and of course keep it up and play golf sooner than the rest of the Atlantic division. Not a huge fan of Cappy but no matter how you slice an orange its still an orange!

It is quite simple actually Ullstrom can play for KO throw him out there with Bailey and Frans and lets see what happens. There is no reason to sit Ullstrom. If that dont work then switch up all the lines to get the guys going. Iwould bench KO a coupleof games then bench Bailey a couple of games and so forth. If they dont want to play then dont let them. See he has options, he just does not know how to be a coach.

I like Hamonic... he is a good defenceman.

He plays with some passion.

3 or 5 yr deal would be good for me.

he deserves 3 to 3.5 million per year.

Streit... I would be happy with a one year extension for 4 million.

But it looks like he will get a 3 yr deal.... or @ least that is the rumour.

Looks like he wants one last contract before he retires.

Hamonic should not be making more than 2-2.5/year! Come on. He has no offensive side to his game and is a simple shutdown man.

I think he is playing hurt to be honest. At least he is not like our defenseman in the past that they get a hang nail and they are out for like 6 weeks
- kasperrko

there might be some truth to that

I think the market for a true shutdown dman is pretty good. I don't think $3-$3.5 is out of the realm of reasonability. That amount doesn't even put him in the top 75 highest paid dmen.

By NHL standards... he gets @ least 3 million.

Any team in the NHL would pay him that.

I've said a few times here I think this team could get at least some secondary scoring with different lines. Heck, they were getting secondary scoring with different lines earlier. For one, they can put Grabner with a center that can actually see him when he's breaking up ice and make a decent pass to him, rather than saddling him with Reasoner. They can move obvious fourth-liner Aucoin off the second line to do it. They can also re-insert Ullstrom into the lineup. Guy looked good. I'm not saying the scoring floodgates open with him in there or anything, but at the very least, putting him in allows you to get Okposo the heck out of there for a few games.

If they're not going to alter the first line at all, they can still bring Grabner...clearly the best player not on the first line...out of exile. Something like:

Moulson-Tavares-Boyes
Grabner-Nielsen-Bailey
Martin-Cizikas-Ullstrom
McD-Reasoner-Aucoin

Scratch: Okposo

It is pretty funny that it is like opposite sides of the spectrum between Capuano and Torts. People are starting to get on him because somebody is always in his doghouse regardless of star status. Yet with Cappy nobody misses a shift even if they just glide around with one hand on his stick for pretty much the entire game.

And if Bailey still doesn't get it done after a line shake-up...move him down to the fourth line to send him a message and go with something like:

Moulson-Tavares-Boyes
Grabner-Nielsen-Ullstrom
Martin-Cizikas-McD
Bailey-Reasoner-Aucoin

Cappy has some options...he just doesn't try them. Since he's been here, Cappy has always been glacially slow about making changes in the lines. Not saying he should be Steve Stirling and have 300 different line combinations per game, but when half your lineup is just killing time until you can get Tavares out there again game in and game out, try something different.

EDIT: well "love" is a strong word...more like its the best lines right now given what cappy has to work with.

Can't wait to see Lucic in the corner with Hickey and martinek hanging on his back like they were his kids. What period do the ice girls come out and scrape martinek off the ice?
