Never said you weren't a good fan. Go back and read what I said. It had nothing to do with being a better fan. I use to catch some of the old whalers games on ch 3 I think when I was a kid. Always loved the colors and uni's

I'd go as far as to say that ANYONE who has managed to cheer for this team through the last decade is a 'diehard fan'. If you watch this team and cheer for it on a regular basis regardless of the outcome, you're a diehard fan. That's not for the convenience of my measily 35 year experience, but rather what true 'diehard fans' do.

this actually the best conversation we have had on here in months...it reminds me how bad it was being a whalers fan. I had a Patrick poulin jersey for chirst sake

NYI78, what do you think??

"I'm going on 30 years plus so most likely you don't have the same connection to the team as me and therefore you couldn't understand the frustration and anger of some of the old school die hards that's my point."

Again you facking moron I was talking about the definition of what a die hard fan is, not whether or not who the better fan is. Man you're facking clueless.

Unforunate that it's interchangable and that we all fall into that categorey just because we are Islander fans . Other categories we ALL fall into; masochistic, gluttons for punishment. Did i miss any?

It is? I'm pretty sure the definition of a die hard is somebody who has rooted for one team their enitre life no matter how bad or how good that team is. How is that clueless? I would love to hear this

Simon Gagne to Flyers for a conditional 4th round pick...injury prone but could have helped on the 2nd line...it seems like it's a big deal for the Islanders to make a trade while the other teams swap players at will...

I have been an Islanders fan since 1972...had season tickets for years and was at the Coliseum for the 3 times they won the Cup...vs. Philly, North Stars and Edmonton...I get pissed at them and I know if I was the GM the team would be better but I do think when they go to Brooklyn things will change. Maybe I'll buy season tickets again...

My 23 year old daughter started to watch hockey and she became an Islanders fan. I told her they suck...be a Rangers fan . We live in NJ and she goes to college in NJ and her friends are Devils fans. She wanted to be different so she picked the Islanders...likes the young guys on the team....

Because your definition is completely flawed.

strongly or fanatically determined or devoted ; especially : strongly resisting change
— die·hard noun
— die–hard·ism \-ˌiz-əm\ noun

Now by your flawed/feeble definition, no one who didn't start cheering for the team from birth can be considered devoted.

I would submit that any fan who cheers for their team and refuses to stop cheering for that team no matter what the circumstances is a diehard fan. So in 1978 I decided to cheer for the Isles. I've likely cheered for them as long or LONGER than you. I have several THOUSAND dollars in Islanders memoribilla. Attend several games a year. Cheer for them in a city hostile to fans of other teams. Yet you feel that's not diehard? 35 years?
If you can't see how flawed your concept is, you're beyond talkling to.
