Matheson said something about us looking at him in the past.

It's worth the shot, but at some point something will have to give. Harti won't come back next year if he doesn't think there is room for him. Petrell and Eager are also guys that probably can't play third line for that long.

Short term you can give it a shot. Long term you have to move someone.

Is that like you said Rienhart wasn't a top 5 pick last season?

Is that like you said Samuelsson wasn't a first rounder and lucky t be a second last year?

Iss has him ranked at 11 right now.

I personally don't know where he'll get drafted as I DO NOT FOLLOW THE KIDS ENOUGH THIS SEASON. But I will take MaCgregors word on he that he is a great gritty player that every team is looking at.

I still think Reinhart is overrated.

Remember at end of last year when we won the Fail for Nail and I threw out the idea of trading Someone like Eberle for a young number one d-man and everyone got mad at me?

i never said anything about samuelsson....
and i said we shouldnt take reinhart at 2

- hugefemale dog77

As I recall, most opinions about Reinhart were reactionary to the Cloutier blogs saying the Oil should take him 1st overall.

Being removed from Edmonton, I just don't see the point of considering the Oil Kings as the "baby Oilers" like some people are inclined to.

They are though to some degree. You don't have your draft picks picked up by the Oil Kings unless you are pulling some strings. Gernat and Pelss are two that standout.

Fair enough. I just think that considering the "Oil Kings factor" as something that could possibly put Reinhart on par with Yakupov or even Murray is a recipe for disaster. At the very least if they had been set on taking Reinhart I would hope that they'd have moved down to 3rd or 4th.

I real question picking Oil Kings early. Late rounds no problem, but us taking a guy at 10th makes me wonder if we just took him because we've gotten to know him. When in reality he should've went 20th.

Musil.

I think I remember hearing something about them trying to coax that Simpson kid out of college to come play but maybe that was a different team.

Musil was different. Gernat and Pelss were exemptions from Europe. Musil at least was proven, although wouldn't be shocked if the Oil pushed the Kings to acquire him.

Simpson won't leave. He'll stay his full length and good for him. He's a kid that has some developing to do and the 4 years at College will help. He's also a very smart kid and sat down with his dad and his mistress to figure out what is best for him.

Welp, I was just informed in Eklund's thread that negotiations for Letang START with Eberle + 1st + prospect. Looks like we'll just have to hang on to him...

i think it would definitely take more than eberle. Letang is a top 5 dman in the league with a cup ring and only 25 years old.

eberle and a 1st is pretty fair imo.

We can ask Bruce Hollingdrake if you want, whether I quit or was fired. Although I will say in fairness to Bruce and The Hockey Writers website that they want a certain type of blog, and I respect that...which is why I left so immediately. He has every right to run his site however he wants, just like I have every right to write blogs the way I do and have sites post them. Did I mention that THW's entire site had 350,000 page views last month, and I alone on HB had 487,000?

Given that Letang didn't really ascend to being one of the top 5 dmen until this or last year, and given that I'm not convinced he's not the difference between us being in the playoffs or not, there's no guaranteeing Eberle won't become top 5-10 at his position, and that that pick won't be a top 10 pick.

If it's fair, it's not prudent.

since the end of his entry level contract he has increased his ppg each year. Last year he would of been in a fight with karlsson for the scoring lead among dman. this year he has upped that rate of production. I know its a steep price, but I would say only Karlsson who is a bit a ahead and Pietranglo who is a bit behind him are in at the same level in terms of controlling the game.

A lot of Canucks fans would be upset since he was our most physical player and probably tied with Kassian for the best fighter on the team. Especially if Edmonton of all teams claims him. Not much of a hockey player though, similar skill set(lol) to Hordichuck.

I know he isn't one of the Oilers #1 overall players, but I think Eberle is the LAST player the Oilers should ever trade. He's got something special about him that nobody else on the team does.

I really wouldn't move any of them right now, but 2-3 years from now I won't be shocked if we have to.
