I didn't realize it was a drinking joke, good job.

That was actually accidental on my part. Worked out nicely though. High five!

Maybe we'll get lucky and trade prospects and cheap players and picks galore for Keith Yandle if Phoenix is out of the playoffs and they're afraid he's breaking the bank.

We're at a distinct advantage too if we find ourselves in the playoff hunt that a lot of other teams' 2nd pairing dmen would be #1 dmen in Edmonton.

- Morris

Yandle scares me, in a defensive system he's fine but how would he be here? Not really physical either.

Granted if the cost was low enough I'd take him, I'd prefer someone that can help with defense.

lazar is not a top ten pick...

Is that like you said Rienhart wasn't a top 5 pick last season?

Is that like you said Samuelsson wasn't a first rounder and lucky t be a second last year?

Iss has him ranked at 11 right now.

I personally don't know where he'll get drafted as I DO NOT FOLLOW THE KIDS ENOUGH THIS SEASON. But I will take MaCgregors word on he that he is a great gritty player that every team is looking at.

Gagne back to PHI is interesting... It think that one equalled out for all involved... Would you trade Shytney for a pick? I would... WTF is Tambo doing- you cant tell me that we could not get something for him?

He better say he is a great offensive player who plays gritty. Don't feel the need to draft Ben Eager with a top 10 pick.

Reinhardt went top 5 but you will see in 5 years or so whether that pick was warranted. I hope it is but 18 year olds are tough to predict.

As for letang for eberle, I think I'd make that deal. But what scares me is losing his clutch moments which would be needed in the playoffs. Guess we need to make it there first.

Reinharts performance at the WJC was poor to say the least... Definitely not inidcative of a top 5 pick...

I agree- even though I feel Eberle is the best player on this team- and definitely a leader- if not future captain you would have to give to get... thing is very few athletes come as clutch or as smart as Eberle in the NHL... as an Oiler fan it would be tough to witness him playing for anyone else...

It is tough to draft from teams that are as good as the Oil Kings.

They are such a rounded team that it's hard to judge just how much of a players success and abilities are because of him or if it's because they have a top end goalie and a bunch of drafted d-men to help him along.

He's also been damn near miscast by every "scouter" imo. I keep reading about this "mean streak" and poop because he's big and all but he's more Jay Bouwmeester than Bryan Allen. He also is also pretty frustrating offensively. When he does decide to play confident that way its pretty awesome but he makes the "safe" play a lot instead of taking a chance. It'd be nice if he took those chances more often because his shot isn't great but it isn't terrible either.

Rangers are in panic mode. Philly could use scoring as well.

Does eberle+ get us McDonagh/del zotto and kreider? Or does nail get us schenn/couturier+

Things to consider.

Even teams out of the playoffs dont frequently do it.
- sanfordnson

I'd say a few reasons. 1 contract he might command 6-7 mil and with the cap going down I don't know if we can afford that and resign Malkin. Also we need a top 6 winger and you have to give to get. It's purely hypothetical just something I was thinking about. Eberle would be a staple on Sids wing for years to come and Letang would boulster your blue line for years to come. Obviously we would miss letang but we do have quite a few defensive prospects maybe we get lucky and find one who can be close to as good. Currently we have Beau Bennett as a forward prospect and that is about it.

Those teams aren't going to take a big salary in exchange for small salaries. PHI has been known to do the opposite and I suspect Slats isn't adding yet another goal scorer to his team at this point that makes 6mil going forward.

Matheson said something about us looking at him in the past.

It's worth the shot, but at some point something will have to give. Harti won't come back next year if he doesn't think there is room for him. Petrell and Eager are also guys that probably can't play third line for that long.

Short term you can give it a shot. Long term you have to move someone.
