What would push Dubnyk better than a proven starter who has already taken his job
- andymaury

your correct, but would you trade bulin for anything at trade deadline or keep him? if he keeps up strong play and edm is out of playoffs, i can see edm trading him. thats a move tamby prob has guts to pull bc it doesn't affect edm future or long term plans.

I would trade him but only for something significant. A 4th rounder is not worth it

WOW Lazar leads the Oil KIngs in goals with 34 goals,
not to bad considering he is the second line center behind
St Croix.(Ranger pick) He compliments Samuelsson(Who leads the team in points) quite well.
At 17 he is 6' 198lbs. He will probably grow another inch or two and gain about ten pounds by the time he is 20. He also plays wing as he and Samuelsson switch positions quite often.
Will the Oilers Pick him. Probably won't get the chance.

Some people grow from ages 18 to 20 (I have a few family members) but I haven't seen many players heights change from their draft year. Then again I'm always a bit skeptical on the sizes they put for players.

If lazar has a crazy playoff run again where he continues a point per game it's possible he goes top 10 but I'm still thinking 15 to 20 range for him. His point totals say late first but if he's that gritty maybe he's a mid first. Not many forwards who aren't point per game (shows consistency) are taken in the first round. If they don't project him to be a pro scorer he may fall. Who knows for sure tho.

Unless he absolutely tears the playoffs a new bumhole (and I'm talking 2.0+ PPG), then I agree. MacKinnon, Drouin, Monahan, Barkov, Jones, Pulock, Lindholm, Shinkaruk, Mantha, Ristolainen, and Zadorov all easily go before him, and that's without mentioning a few others.

Is he still a sex addict?

What sane male isn't? If the rest of the male population was in his spot, they'd be addicts too.

I was thinking Khabi and Whitney for Volchenkov
- andymaury

No to Volchekov. I don't even do Whitney straight up for him. He's overpaid, injury prone and has miles on him.

I wanted the Oil to draft Samuelsson last year. Goddamn Coyotes.

Letang for Eberle?
- dbell646

Tempting, but I think it'd be hasty to trade Eberle right now. I don't know if he'll ever get much more than the 76 points he got last year, but I think he has a decent chance at staying there consistently, which is the kind of production that Oiler fans have long been salivating about.

Think it could work both teams dealing from a perceived position of strength. Oilers appear to have depth at forward and pens appear to have depth in the defensive department. I could understand not wanting to give up Eberle it's the same reason I want him on my team.

I'd take Letang for Eberle. Fits in that age bracket(25) that we need and is an all-around d-man. He plays against the other teams best and is generally good for 40 points.

Eberle is good no doubt, but this trade would really shore the team up. Plus it's not like you'd be losing 75 points, you really are only losing 30ish. Getting 40+ points from the back end would be great.

I wonder though whether we could give up a combination of our "second-tier assets" to get a guy who doesn't necessarily have the same acumen as Letang but who could be a good fit. A guy like Cody Franson comes to mind. Letang could step into a #1 dman role here and Franson couldn't, I get that, but he might be able to continue to grow here and we could keep Eberle in the process.

I will say that I'm not going to complain if we land Letang, even if it does mean Eberle ends up going.

That's the other thing. Teams that are sitting pretty in the playoffs don't trade their #1 dman.

Of course. How about JML? Not a fan of his contract, but he's been a healthy scratch.

Franson is someone I'd bring in as an upgrade to Whitney/Potter

Maybe we'll get lucky and trade prospects and cheap players and picks galore for Keith Yandle if Phoenix is out of the playoffs and they're afraid he's breaking the bank.

We're at a distinct advantage too if we find ourselves in the playoff hunt that a lot of other teams' 2nd pairing dmen would be #1 dmen in Edmonton.
