Yep. Still like Ott though. We had no future with Roy. Ott gives 48 as many (frank)s as Roy did.

it is safe to say the number of f@cks given is at a 50 to 1 ratio.

The whole team is the problem.. therefore by association Vanek is part of the problem... THey need a new identity, and i don't care who they move but it needs to be a bunch of them and Vanek is one of the few that actually has value.. you can't get crap for stafford, gerbe and the rest of the crap on the 3rd and 4th line.. no one will sign here as a free agent if we have the same core of uninspired players unless we grossly over pay and we are more than 1 or 2 moves away from being good.

But they will if we trade Captain America and HDTV and present TJ Oshie as the saviour?

he wont be a savior.......this trade would all be part of the rebuilding process.

Oshie is a good young talent, and Halak is a solid goalie. Plus we get a 1st and 2nd.

no way, stewart is lazy and shattenkick is tiny and a one trick poney just like brennan. i would hope we could get more if miller and vanek are included. i kind of like gerbe75s proposal though...
- FIREonICE

It's an interesting situation if that proposal has any merit. I'd like to see them get a 1st for each of Miller and Vanek though. It's all about timing I guess. Do you trade now when value is high and more teams in the playoff hunt or do you trade at the deadline when desperation kicks in?

you dont go get younger players and picks to then go sign brad richards as a free agent.. you go young and stay young.. hope they all mature and in 3 or so years then look who is on the free agent market.. You need to understand we are not going to win with this current roster and it will take more than 2 moves to make them better.. Our entire d corps is terrible, we lack size, grit and skill. we need a lot

depends on if you think history will repeat ala a 1st for gaustad. who knows. this season is weird and if you can get in you might be able to squeeze out a stanley cup win whereas you might not normally be equipped to do so. chicago is hard to bet against this year though.

If you look at the Sabres roster, here is the fatal flaw. (or flaws)

Vanek, Pommer, Hodgson and Ennis are all about where they should be scoring wise.

McCormick(now gone), Kaleta, Ott and Scott are not here primarily to score goals.

That meant Stafford, Foligno, Gerbe and Hecht were supposed to carry the rest of the scoring themselves. I'm sure Leino was factored in there as well, but it shows they had no real plan. Imagine if the injuries were on the top line? Then what would be happening.

the money ball equation doesn't add up..

then you throw in the defense sucking and we are screwed

We have given up the 3rd most goals against in the NHL this season and have scored only the 18th most goals...

I think a lot of players saw us slipping in the standings and now are just like "f@ck it.. it is only a 48 game season and we get our full paychecks.. We will try again next year"

In a perfect world Vanek and Miller keep up their solid play but the team continues to lose for the next few weeks. If we get to mid-March and the team is still at the bottom I would hope all hell breaks loose on the trade front. I for one will certainly take this painful season if we can get three 1st's in this years draft.

They need to stop viewing, and marketing individual players are saviors. It creates bad fan expectations and un-due pressure on the player causing them suck.

IE see: Brad Boyes, Raffi Torres, Ville Leino. Dainus Zubrus, Steve Bernier and any other 1 off acquisition we had. I think they need to trade in large chunks like Darcy did pre-last-lockout where he got Lydman and Drury and such. It takes the pressure off the individual and allows them to re-invent themselves.

The defense sucking was the other part I left out. I have no answer for that. They just shouldn't be that bad.

these are the band-aides I was speaking of early in the day. These are the kinda players you get by trading stafford and leo who havent done anything prodcutive. The list goes on with throwing a peice of dust in teh lake and expect a big splash.

Aquiring Corey Perry by himself is a little different to aquiring Raffi Torres by himself.

I don't know that I agree with getting players in groups because it take the pressure off them.

I think good players are good players.

i could see vanek getting hurt before that but i don't see either really letting up on play. both have been solid and will most likely continue..

i really don't know what to do. part of me wants to keep vanek and miller and trade pominville instead and try to get something leadership-y on this team.
