Yep, problem is Ballard will be the one to go. - dadeadhead
If u look at the trouble they are in w the cap next year, they might have to get rid of Luongo, Ballard, AND another salary...
They are in rough shape
Booth is prob the one to go, but maybe Bieksa could be had for the right deal of talent w a small cap hit (Sekera + maybe?)

Should have sent him back to juniors if this was how they were going to use him IMO. Press box and having John Scott as a linemate does zilch for the kid. - Gunner Staal
I agree, but the fact is that he is stuck here. You can't go back on the decision. Good leaders figure out a way to make it work despite the circumstances, especially when the current way of doing things has been leading to extremely sub par results.

I'm with you, throw him a bone. Who cares if he deserves it or not at this point. Sabres are 29th out of 30 teams, whats the difference?

Difference is our GM is in denial and will not accept the fact we are not good enough

He'll be gone soon enough. Take your top 3 pick and a new GM and be happy. This could be the most productive Sabres season in 10 years outside of the ECF with Carolina.
I personally like Pominville more but no way they consider it again. - sbroads24
I like Pominville too, but if we are gonna trade him then I'd love Brown... Plays a physical game... And Homer has said that deal was on the table last year which is why I brought it up
If LA would take Stafford + for Brown then I'd do it... But no way they would

Which is what most of us fans are hoping for. Nothing will change for the good until Darcy is gone and we become sellers
Buyouts of Booth and Ballard, 8.45 off the books. - dadeadhead
That would still give them only about 12.5mil to sign 10 guys
Even throw in an extra 5mil room if they trade Luongo,
And it's still under 18mil to sign 11 players
Can't really get much value in the free agent market, since everyone gets overpaid...
So thy may look to trade some of their vets for younger, cheaper talent

totally agree. im thinking 1yr rebuild a la philly, ottowa- not 3yr like pitt, edmonton...
positive is that we will suck bad in a 48 game season instead of an 82 game season.
downside is with the new lottery system % chance of winning 1st overall are down from last year.
upside to that is top 3 guys are all worthy of 1st pick.
Problem. As discussed yesterday. Are they going to trust a guy the plan to fire with making those decisions? - Buffalo--Sabres
Just wait till contracts start being boughht out and all the UFA talent out there will command HUGE dollars. Demand will be way higher than the supply. It will make VL contract look awesome
