Bad positioning. He needs to come out and take away the angle. He was back in the net.

What do you mean? jw

I do believe they need to adjust better when teams play the kind of game Toronto played tonight.

Personally I am starting to see it as a bigger issue, instead of systems or approaches to how the game should be won. They lack basic fudamentals, starting with a good work ethic.

A lot of it is execution, slow starts, lack of urgency. But I think a lot of it is from the mindset and philosophy that has been instilled in them.

Look at the replacement options tho. Murray, Keenan or ...Ruff.

Dont really like any. Whoever the Flyers pick so be it. None really entice me.

If they make a change in season, it'd likely be an interim move

Just a hypo, mind you.

If the Flyers do move Briere, do they consider buying out Breeze if they miss the PO's?

- 77rams

I would buy myself out of that extra year to Kimmo sooner than Bryz.

Depending on how he finishes the season, I would consider it.

We talk a lot about culture, and attitude.

Frankly, if Bryzgalov plays inconsistent hockey again I want him out. The culture of having streaky goaltending has been around too long. If it cant be fixed immediately fine, but I dont want to be locked in for that cap hit unless the play matches it.

Certainly there are more options then that. And if Laviolette was removed. I'd have no issues with Terry Murray. I know that he will get a lot of these young kids playing the right way. And they will be better off for it and it will pay off down the road. I would love the FLyers to have the team game that Murray built in LA.

I don't pin this loss on that goal as much as its the fact that Couturier, Briere, Talbot, Feds and Knuble are basically useless on offense right now.
- opeth_pa

In my opinion, offense isn't this teams issue.

I just don't get it...

Who would your goalie be then? What viable option is there that is proven to be better then Bryz at a significant less cost..

I dont know what mindset and philosophy has been set in place.

I do know that they keep coming out flat, and lack hard work team wide for long stretches at a time.

No coach teaches that, but I will agree with Lava maybe not being the guy who can fix it at this point. Weird because a lot of this team is new, and its the veterans who are playing the worst.

I'd pick OB's brain and have him give me a list of good young coaches in the Juniors. I'd go with a fresh face and a new approach.

It's really the last place I want to go. But every game I'm leaning more and more in that direction.
- MJL

He did not pick Simmonds, Briere, Hartnell for the team: all average/poor defensive forwards, or know that Talbot would slump this bad, or that Roo would not be the best player on the ice for a single game, or that KImmo would be so slow, Coburn regress, Meszy get injured, Rusty/Knoobs be brought in when they are finished...

I just don't understand the early 6 m deal for Kimmo, esp in a year when the cap comes down by almost 10%

It might not be the primary issue but it is certainly an issue.

Read out for 6 weeks.
You then have 5-8 players that are contributing nothing tangible offensively

There really aren't many choices. Tocchet maybe? Though I seem to remember him being less than impressive with Phoenix.

cringing at the notion of murray behind the bench instituting a 1-4 forecheck and saaaaggggggg and emphasis on blocking shots in the d-zone.

Proven? Not many are proven.

A guy like Hiller for example is cheaper. A guy like Backstrom would be cheaper and signed to shorter term deals.

Again though, I dont want to get into this too much, Bryzgalov has time to show what he is made of. We will see.

If it led to wins, I wouldn't care.

But let's face it, Murray hardly stifled Lindros, LeClair or Brind'Amour

The mindset and philosophy of playing overly aggressively on the offensive side of the puck. They've formed too many bad habits. If you don't play that style of hockey with a ultra high energy level game in and game out, it's not very effective. I talked about a lot of this when Laviolette was first hired. His style of play is a double edged sword. There's a reason why it's sink or swim under this Coach.

sure would get Bryz back to looking like an all star, though.
