I think you confused Gus with Gervais...
- Yosimar89

No, I'm not. They were both horrendous.

WTF was Knuble there?

I would've rather seen Rinaldo.

- Yosimar89

probably because he's good for garbage in front of the net. the whole team was allergic to that area for most of the night.

The whole team was horrific outside of Voracek and Giroux/Hartnell on some shifts.

Would be nice to see Coots stay to pick it up. Playing well defensively is something top 4th liners can do.

They are all frustrating as hell to watch.

In this league weak goals kill you. If Bryzgalov doesnt let in that first stinker its a different game.

Knuble is a veteran and is a big body in front of the net, I'm fine with that but Gus? Kimmo and Coburn or hell even Schenn to get back at his own team I could understand.

Did you watch him play in that game? He was an absolute train wreck and Lavvy kept throwing him out there
- Flyers2821

What was he going to do? Run 4 dmen the whole 3rd like Tortorella?

this is what they are. simply not a very good team. inability to be consistent. getting nothing from a lot of players. couple of very near misses.

leafs played the perfect road game and scored on their limited opportunities. deserved the win.

flyers have a lot of work to do.

- hammarby31

This is a key point. Can't count on Giroux and Voracek to do everything. Simmonds and Schenn have chipped in at a good rate as well. Other than that, a bunch of guys not producing. Losing Read really hurts.

He didn't play well. What's the alternative, run Gervais out there more?

yep. i said on twitter early in the game, this is one where they really need read. versatile. works hard every night. keeps it simple but has skill.

the defense and bottom 2 lines are allowed to contribute offensively.

Flyers are not bad enough. We are the Leafs from the last couple of years. Not good at being bad.

Neither Gervais or Gus should have been on the ice the last 5 minutes of the game.

I've been hard on Brayden Schenn and Voracek early in the season.

I realise Coots is playing well defensively but the team needs more out of him than that.

There are many players in the NHL that are good defensively.

That's the reality of it. Anyone can scapegoat any player they want to. But this is a team issue. Until the shore up the little things that make the biggest difference. This team, despite the talent it has, will be an average team. It starts with team defense, puck management, penalties. They didn't raise their game and show a real sense of urgency until late in the game. They come out in the 3rd, breakdowns in their own zone. And that leads to penalty, and down 2 goals.
