I agree with that 100%. The level of play has to warrant the cap hit. If he's going to give you league average or below, you can find a guy who is a lot cheaper to provide it. I'm giving him this year, and all of next year before I would make that decision.
- PLindbergh31

I would not.

If you see inconsistent hockey like last season I try to bring in someone in the summer.

I really hate this topic, I do want Bryzgalov to be that guy. Goals like that though make you wonder... I completely agree about the level of play matching up to the cap hit.

But of course he is! Until the Flyers find the goalie that will have a 0.00 GAA and 1.000 Save Percentage, they will never be good enough for the fickle Philly fans.

Wouldn't you guys just give all the credit to the defence?

Instead of a 3rd rounder, give them a 2nd and get Oshie, too!!

This team is a middle of the pack squad (at best this year).

The team is made of individual players.

Before the season started, in my head it was an evaluation year for everyone going forward.

Seidenberg is arguably the Bruins second best defenseman. They wouldn't give him up for Briere. Not by a long shot.

The UFA goalies this summer are Jimmy Howard, Mike Smith and Nicklas Backstrom.

Next summer you have Lundqvist, Miller, Kiprusoff, Hiller, Dubnyk & Corey Crawford.

Seidenberg... The one recent "homegrown" defenseman. And we let him go

(...and I know why they did, it's just funny given the Flyers record with D men and Seidenberg's career once leaving)

It's almost certainly an AHL only move. They needed a center on the Phantoms

I'm pretty surprised Seidenberg has turned out to be as good as he is. I don't think anyone saw it coming.

Solid point.

The only one I would be interested in is Backstrom (this summer). I understand the notion of giving Bryzgalov one more season if we see inconsistent hockey the rest of the way, I just dont really like a culture of inconsistent goaltending. I dont think its good for a team.

For now its all peeing in the wind. Nobody knows what will happen. Lots of hockey left, I do hope Bryzgalov is that guy. He has shown he can be. We will see.

Not me, personally, but our media (whom are disconnected from the fans, with rare exception) would.

The Flyers spend way too much time in their own zone.
