Taloon has done a great job in his short time. I remember how he quickly dismantelled the team when he showed up. Alot of bad work and trades of draft picks over the years by the panthers. If im not mustaken in 02 they had first pick traded down to third passing up on nash and taking boowmeister whos gone. In 2003 again the first pick was traded for third passing up on eric stall for nathan horton weiss in 2001at i believe 4th pick is only top pick left. Other hi picks olesz 7th frlik few years later 10th. We all harp on the oilers for there top picks but atleast they kept them and they players the panthers traded down for are gone.

Step 1 is drafting well. He's done that.

On paper like one mentioned this should be a playoff team. 3 decent tenders a vetran defence group and some good forwards. They could part with few prospects or younger players to move forward. They have some good young defensmsn. A trade could work between them and edmonton. Mabye like pajarvii, jones and hemsky for kulikov, gudbranson and a 4th rd pick. That would put both teams in the right direction. Florida has the cap space. Looking back gudbransons young and a 3rd pick and is physical but at the nhl level his potentials unknown

Yes he has and with a few forward bodies esp with injuries to versteeg etc few wingers that can move up and down the lineup would be nice

Guds is a beast. Unless the offer is substantial, he goes nowhere. He has gotten his feet in order and is much smarter with the puck. I was really impressed with Colby Robak today.

What he meant to say was, "no thank you".

Look, Weiss has been my favorite Panther for a long time. Even when he was struggling to score goals in the past, he did the small things that didn't show up on the score sheet. He was always able to make those around him better. But this season has seen him go in the opposite direction. He is lazy, he is making poor decisions with and without the puck (see today's line change that led to Boston's 3rd goal), and no matter what line he is put on, he does nothing to help the chemistry.

Do I want Weiss traded? Yes. Not because I hate him. Not because he sucks. But because it's what's best for him and the team. Let him and the team move on. Weiss served his purpose here. He got us to the playoffs. He was THE guy here for a long time. He was the man we went to when the game was on the line. When we HAD to have the faceoff, he was the one who took it. The youth movement has started. He's been on the top line, the second line, the third line, and the fourth line.

Huberdeau is now. Shore is now. Markstrom is now. Bjugstad is now. Not sure if any of you saw Robak today, but he played great hockey. Made Filip Kuba look like a tree. Gudbranson is now. Mueller, though not one of our draft picks, is now. This will allow Fleischman and Versteeg to sit on the second or third line where they belong.

Everyone needs to understand that we got LUCKY last season. It was never supposed to happen. Over achievers is an over statement. Let Tallons plan come to fruition. When our line up doesn't have guys like Jovanovski and Kuba in it... everyone will take notice. Obviously we will need some help in free agency. But they will come in to SUPPORT what we already have. We have the support players. Kopecky has been playing AMAZING. You have to love Skille and Matthias.

Next season and beyond the Panthers will be relevant. Just get through these next few weeks, it would all have been worth it.

This is exceptionally accurate and well said. I really can't add anything but my own feelings that I love Weiss and I am very loyal to him, but its true that he looks really bad in all the ways you described, all the little areas of the game on top of what the stats show.
I will also add that Theo also has a NTC and has stated in the past that he wants to finish his contract out here and retire locally. (who wouldn't want that- it was like 86 degrees here today).
Robak looked great.
A bit more patience, the kids are playing well. More of them to come.

Talloons the right guy for a rebuild. Proven track record in chicago now florida. There a good mix of veteran leadership and youthful enthousiasm. Still i picture gunbranson dealt mabye philly mabye detroit or edmonton

If you are building a franchise and drafted your own stay at home D-Man who now has 1 year of regular season experience plus the benefit of a 7 game playoff series then why would you entertain trading him? If you are not in a position to win it all why trade a growing young player? Seriously I just can't understand this idea given the place that the Panthers are in right now.

We were fortunate last year that we just knew how to lose better than others. I see no reason to jeopardize the long term future for a quick fix in a chaotic short season.

Lets not forget Nathan Horton doing the same thing Weiss is doing in his contract year. He coasted out there, didn't give a crap until he was finally traded to the Bruins. Now you see a different player. Trade Weiss to his home town Leafs and watch him play outstanding. You'll see.

As a Leafs fan, take Mac and Liles and a defensive prospect.

Can`t see it. If he agrees to go anywhere it will be to a contender and would include a conditional pick or prospect if he resigns with said team. Having said that I do believe his value in returns has diminished but, can see him flourishing again with a change of scenery.

I love Weiss as much as anyone, and I'm probbaly going t be very sad to see him leave if he is traded. That said, I think we do need to move on from him. It's just not working for him anymore here. I don't know if its the new guys coming in/up, or what, but its not working. Maybe when Versteeg come sback he will feel comfortable with he and Fleishman, but thats the only real chance I see for him to rebound and turn this around.

The part about this that really annoys me is that the lines are juggling every single game it seems! I understand shuffling Weiss around to try and get him going, but there is no reason to break up the kid line to do that! I was not happy to see Shore on a different line yesterday (Though he did pick up an assist on the only goal, maybe the kid line would have produced more than 1, as seems to be a recurring thing of late).

Amazing. He is an absolute tower in net. The score in his two starts is not indicative of his play. The game against Pittsburgh could have easily been 6 or 7-1. Boston, one of the most premier teams in the league, was held to three goals against him- two of which were just stupid, bad luck goals. Chara's goal was just awesome. He needs to make a few adjustments, but he's here to stay.

Also, I'm hearing Weiss may be on his way to Calgary.

He has looked very good. Really big, as stated, maybe a softy or two but to be expected at this point, and has made some really great saves to balance out. What was not mentioned but really stands out is his quickness. He is lightning fast and it is really noticeable because he is so big, so you see those huge pads moving so fast. He was sent back to San Antonio today but looks like next year we have a bona fide big time starter.

Damn it can't believe we sent mark back to the AHL such a disappointment best player last two games... Guess there is no trade for Theo or Clem to be made.

Weiss for Matt Moulson-straight up.

We trade a potential team leader for someone who has about equal scoring ability except this season. We trade our -11 guy for their -5 guy, but our guy has "leadership intangibles"..

It's not a bad trade but we will most likely end up losing on that deal we need to send him out west because I know he is going to regain his form.

I think it's because some of the injured bodies are coming back so we need to roster space. For a young kid, these up and down trips could either hurt or not affect him at all. It made no sense to bring him up in the first place, it was a waste of time, 2 games? What's the point?

Looks like tank mode to be honest. I just hope they don't pull a Mid 2000's Panthers who end up winning their last 5 games to blow a top 5 draft pick. Def see that happening.

I respectfully disagree that we'd lose on the deal. And, in NO way, shape, or form do I accuse you of this, but I think fans over value the players on their teams. If they do move Weiss, it seems that the scuttlebutt is that it will be for picks. That's OK, but I'd like to commend Tallon on his picks and the youth we already have, so..with that in mind I'd take Matt Moulson and run like hell. He's a tough guy with heart that can score. Instead of more young guys, or for that matter some long in the tooth guys we already gave the ranch for, lets try and grab a fiesty guy in his prime. Doesn't matter, they'd never take the deal, and it's real iffy that Weiss would agree to go..he might though.

Its hard to over value weiss right now.

But if we do have to move him wouldn't be a bad choice but II think weiss when playing like we know he can brings so much to this team i worry about losing him.

also doesn't Moulson play with JT because he can make anybody look good.
