The only thing that I like is that all the rumor guys have been very quiet. Usually DR comes out of no where with his trades so who knows!

I dont think the other teams will be quite as eager as we are. They all still have hope for their seasons. And the Sabres can't show they are desparate, it will only hurt them.

Yeah but having Darcy is discouraging moving forward but I think his time here is coming to an end.
- sabresfandan

IMO if he can pull of 2-3 decent moves his job will be safe for a while, while they evaluate how they will pan out.

Just like judging Rolston right now. He's an easy target with back to back losses, but you have to give him at least a couple weeks to make an impact. The players had their chance to make an impact for him and failed miserably.

I totally agree, I just think Rolston is in a tough situation basically being thrown to the wolves. Some think Darcy will be out before the deadline.

I think the biggest indicator for Rolston will be how the younger guys perform for the rest of the season. If he can develop them further. Some things that we may want to keep an eye on are Hodgson's play in the defensive zone, Grigorenko's overall play, Ennis's faceoffs, Myers looking more like the Myers from his Rookie year.

The Ott and Hodgson trades nobody had any idea about. Homer only broke that a trade was going down 10 minutes before the Ott deal was announced so it seems like Darcy keeps his mouth shut until something's finalized.

The biggest stones we've ever seen.

Are you then trading for a goalie long-term?

Do you prefer Carlson (who you then have for 5 years) or like the fact that Alzner does not have to be signed long-term unless you want to?

- DixonWard

I like Carlson's game over Alzner and his contract is a manageable one.

I'd prefer the Holtby, Carlson, and a 1st but feel the more reasonable deal would be Neuvirth, Alzner, and a 1st.

As would I. I like Carlson over Alzner though and feel getting Carlson could allow the real option of moving Myers.

It would take Darcy having the stones to move Miller, then move him in the Eastern conference.
- dadeadhead

Darcy having stones? I bet he wouldn't feel a thing!

Darcy is the master of getting "value" in his trades. Getting a 3rd liner who "can" play on the second line... winning. Getting Ville Leino, winger who can "play center," winning.

The way I see it, "value" must mean making conservative trades, for secondary players that can potentially play better than their contracts or past history would indicate. However, this team doesn't need those type of players, but actual, name brand, high skill players. Enough of the Brad Boyes, etc. trades, I want a Lecavalier, or a Toews, or a Tavares, you know, someone whose name is known outside the 716 area code.

Just saw this quote on nhl.com

Sometimes it's funny how it works. You think you're looking the right way sometimes and the puck is going the wrong way. Today, every time I tried to look or sometimes guess where the puck was going to go because I had no chance to see it, the puck was able to hit me.
— Islanders' Evgeni Nabokov after recording a 35-save shutout Saturday vs. Buffalo

Dude has a horseshoe up his butt and/or we hit the unlucky lottery every game... What are the odds on dat?!

Is the pick drouin or jones if we get #1 overall? personally I hope we get 2nd overall so we dont have to debate it and wind up with Drouin....I guess Jones is the supposed clear #1 but we need scoring

I've been saying that the last few games. They can't even get lucky.

I decided to do something else instead after the first period. The funny part is that it was 0-0 after the first 20.
