Also, character actor and voice talent Clancy Brown, who I've had the pleasure of working within the past, as the head guard.

Not necessarily. There are teams out there are about to blow things up....Buff, Wash, and possible Calgary that will sell a rebuild to their fan base and will take a few prospects that may be 2 years away or if they have lack of system depth in a position where they need to fill a need.

Yes necessarily..

washington has guys two years away...
Buffalo have guys two years away...

maybe you misunderstood....these teams may want to "blow things on their roster up" but
they are not taking Rockfords who can't play now....

Could be you didn't mean what I inferred from your post. Like I said, homerism is all relative.

Hard to really be a homer when many fans of your team accuse you of "hating" your team.

Tell ya what, bud, other than calling Hansen dirty for the Hossa hit, what's your other "evidence" of my being a homer? Oh, saying Daniel might have at least invited retribution for a shoulder to jaw, blind hit on Keith (it's on tape)? Well, then Al Cimaglia of NHL Radio and Keith Jones (to name two) are homers, too, because they saw it the same way.

Or am I a homer for saying Shaw's hit was "dumb" and blind side?

Which is it? Enlighten me with something more detailed and supported than "our guy's a homer and yours is too."

- John Jaeckel

Nice defence JJ
Not that you needed to based on silly posts from Canuck boy

Not sure why Canuxk fans are so fixated on how many games Shaw did not get

I thought it was a marginal hit and he got away with one ....move on

The League does a decent job with suspensions over all ......suspensions to Hawks players and others
Keith and Torres both deserved what they got as did Hall and Hanson
A game or two hardly effects the big picture of a season ....short or long
It's a night off
Big Deal

One thing the league will not tolerate is players leaving the bench to jump into "Bench Clearing Brawls" of the past

That is why they will throw book at Clowe

Shaw is well known for his reckless play. Between him and Carcillo, the Hawks have two of the dirtiest players in the league.

I enjoyed Val Kilmar as Doc Holliday in Tombstone -- still one of my favorites

- dciz99

Wyatt Earp with Kevin Costner is far more historically accurate.

I thought both movies were very well done. I liked Costner's Wyatt over Russell's portrayal. Thought both Quaid and Kilmer did a good job as Doc Holliday.

The Outlaw Josey Wales is always a good one in my book.

And it had John Vernon, who was the Dean in Animal House, if I'm not mistaken.

Repitition is what dmen practice. Being able to make the right decision quickly. There are of course other variables in development of and assention to NHL dman. But the sooner the prospect is consistent, the sooner at least an NHL look. There may be other areas the GM/braintrust wants the dman to work on.

Look at Stanton. Q has said that Stanton impressed wit
h consistency of performance during the lock out......... when Q & Bowman often travelled to Rockford for a look.

Then as a comparison.....see I Cole- Blues. On the periphery trying to nail down a job since ladt year. Againat Chicago he tried to do things that the top Blues dmen should be entrusted. May be other issues as well. Sent down yet again. But soon recalled and probably is better in dealing wirh his issues......here to stay.

You can absorb this and apoly to Johns once he turns pro. He is employed as shutdown Notre Dame but hasn't been playing regularly at defense until recently. Give him AHL time & as he shows that he is ready, he gets the call up. Third pair initially/his mobility and meanness is just what a better blueline crew needs. Too often past few years the dmen were almost exclusively stick checkers.

Brouwer makes 2.35 mil this season, but he has a 3 year contract extension paying 3.6, 3.7, and 3.75 mil, respectively. Don't know if that is ideal cap-wise for the Hawks with the cap dropping for next season.

We had this discussion a few times last year. Is that the fault of the D or the choice that the coaches have made in the system they want played?

You're probably right for that kind of money--I'm not on top of the contract situations. That's a bit steep, but given the conversation about team toughness, he'd help in that regard. However, who would he replace? As somebody else posted, I too like Stalberg's speed--just wish he could finish more of those rushes with goals. I really like Frolik too--even if he never replicates his 20 goal seasons.

So, yes, you do always get defensive.
I was stating my opinion. I'm pretty sure that's what these forums are all about. How is saying that Shaw and Carcillo are two of the dirtiest players in the league trolling? It's not. Shaw better be careful or he'll end up being the next Carcillo. Dangerous hits like the one on Pavelski aren't helping.

- hankthetank

1. I would put a handful of players ahead of both those guys.
2. Why are you here to stir up trouble? Does getting attention make you feel that much better?
3. Did Matt Cooke retire?
4. Did Raffi Torres retire?
5. What retreat did Alex Burrows attend to find his honest play?
6. Do the Thrashers play tonight?

I would agree with this if his cap number was a million or so lower. At that cap hit, he needs to provide more.

I've had a sneaking suspicion that Frolik would put up a very solid points total in the playoffs if we had a sample size past 2 first-round exits.

That being said, I'd like to think (barring Frolik leaves via trade before the end of his contract) if he can score 10-15 goals in '13-'14 and kill penalties as efficiently as he has so far this season, then the checks he gets in the mail will be deserved for that year. Love his hustle, but he needs to put some to the back of the net as well.

Kinda touchy, feely in here lately...especially for a team that hasn't lost a game in regulation yet. I am pretty sure I would be laughing anyone off at this point.

Four goals in eleven games the last two playoffs does kind of fire the imagination. However, only nine goals in 108 regular season games is underwealming.
