While I dont know enough about rebuilding a team I ask you this. Shouldn't we try to keep our best players? Miller Vanek, Hodgson (not on the first line)
I mean Ottawa kept Alfi and rebuilt the rest and made the playoffs the next year didnt they? - 11BUFFALO11
IMO No. This core emulates the poor leadership and losing attitude of this organization. They need to plan for 2 years when most likely Miller, Vanek, or Pominville are going to walk for nothing anyways, they need to see that we can't have 2007 all over again and get a good return right now for the players that you have won nothing with. I would be fine with trying to keep Miller, because he might be the hardest to trade, but we need to trade 2 of the 3 IMO |

I agree. If Ruff getting canned didn't grab their attention a move like this would..
Might keep them honest for a few games. - Pairo11
For a few games?
What does a few games do?
Do you still think this team has a chance to make the playoffs?
This franchise needs to purge deadweight and start the rebuild now.
A low level deal will mean nothing to this group.
They just watched a man that was with this franchise for 26 years get his walking papers.
A low level deal in my opinion does zero for this group. |

Low level guy that is well liked in the room will get moved. Thats the next move and when that doesn't work, Darcy is out the door. - dadeadhead
i thought that was what they were trying to accomplish with waiving cody McCormick |

No one is saying trade them all. But when trade deadline comes and we are in the bottom of the league I think the fans will have realized this season is over....
If we don't move at least one of Pom,Vanek,Miller,Regehr,Myers,Stafford I will be shocked. |

do you seriously think a pick and a spare part defenseman will get you Neiderreiter? This kid is going to end up getting a shot on JT's wing, we're not giving him away for spare change. - Isles_since_6
A top 4 defenseman and a 2nd? The kid sounds like he has an attitude problem. I don't see you getting much more for him to be honest, your not getting an established top 6 forward nor a 1st round pick from anyone. |

Robin Regehr to PHI - sbroads24
To high level of a player plus he has a NMC. He doesn't seem like a guy that would waive it mid season and be away from his family.
Think Leopold or Gerbe. And they're moved for peanuts.

They need to move 1 of the big 3. Preferably Pominville. I love Pommer, but if we get a new GM and new coach, MOst likely they are picking their own captain. It might be easier just to move on from Pominville rather than demote him and then try to resign him. I know Babcock or Hitchcock would love Pommer for a cup run. Maybe even Anaheim. |

The question is.
Do you honestly trust Darcy to do this?
I know I dont.

John Buccigross @Buccigross
: @Buccigross is there any hope for the sabres?”--Not this year, no. Only 29 games left. Get a new GM, rework roster.

Is it Cody's fault?
Dallas seems to be doing very well without Ott this year. Wonder if it's him. |
|

I bet the team is reluctant as hell to move the cornerstone players like Miller Vanek and Pommer. They team just had a 50% off sale where the sold 2 million in gear in a week. Most of it on jerseys. I saw a d-in boatload of new sweaters at the game last night. How many useless jerseys and the fans of buffalo have in their closet before they say (frank) it I've had enough. Especially the family people. You buy you kids miller Vanek and Pommer gear to replace the briere, Drury afinegenov, Roy and Connolly gear they had, and poof, 2 months later. Worthless. It's going to really damage public relations. |

I would, pretty sure he was asked by Calgary mid season and he said no. He's a family man 1st. Not gonna uproot his family mid season and not the type of guy to be away from his family. Just an IMO. |

Whoa whoa whoa Pegula did not by a lemon. He bought a proud tough hockey franchise with a nice history for not having won a cup. And somehow sank it right to the pit of hell. - Buffalo--Sabres
I don't blame Pegula for causing our problems, I blame him for not doing anything about them. |

For the most part, I think even if Pegula had cleaned house when he took over, we'd still be experiencing something pretty similar. I think with the players we have, a new GM wouldn't have come in and made as many changes as this team currently needs in a little over a year. (I say year because I don't think he should have gotten rid of Ruff/Regier until after the season he took over in the middle of). |

I was playing on my iPad during the entire game... Barely looked up to watch the game unless I heard "goal".... This is the most uninterested I've ever been in a season since..???.. Whenever. |
