No deals will be done until Terry figures out if he is retaining Darcy in a General Manager capacity.
I have said this earlier.
With the trade deadline drawing ever closer the window for keeping Darcy is either going to close or remain open.
By weeks end the calendar turns to March.
By weeks end I think we will know if Darcy is being retained merely by the moves he makes or doesn't make.
You don't allow someone to move cornerstone pieces of your franchise that you have no intent on retaining as your General Manager.
We will know soon. Like I said a day before Lindy was fired.
Be patient. - TerryPegs
Do you still believe the sabres will be a playoff team?
They are working (talking with someone behind the scenes), just bring them in now!
Enough of this guy - Irish 14
My money is on Burke, Dudley or Luce. In that order.
Quite possible that the decision to can Regier was already made. However, they likely need some time to find his replacement rather than live with an "interim" guy. And that replacement will select the next head coach.
Absolutely. He is one of the best minds in the sport.
Not all of his moves work out, and he often gets killed for the Kessel deal. (But that deal was not THAT bad. Kessel is good.) But the team he built is now coming together and did an awful good of kicking the Sabres around the other night.

Would anyone take Burke as GM? - The_Inkwell
Absolutely. there is no one in the game I respect more then Brian Burke. Good hockey mind who knows how to build a team the right way, not to mention has the balls to do and say what he wants. Can you imagine the type of team he could build with a goalie like Miller?

Luce doesn't have a chance. The Sabres drafts have improved greatly since he left. Dudley? He'd be nice as a 2nd in command but there are 29 other teams with talented personnel guys with no connections to the Sabres.

getting rid of ruff was going to happen either now or at the end of the season. getting rid of him now makes it easier for people to swallow by the time the end of the season happens and they can darcy and then people will be relatively happy instead of mixed to sad like we are now.

Thats a good point. Because the Sabres havent had an assistant GM in years, which means if they fired Regier now they wouldnt have anybody to even promote minus Kevin Devine
