See I never understood that logic though. The team sucks yet consider moving the 2 best players on the team? I just can't grasp that concept........ anybody else yes but those 2, IMO dumb opinion, are untouchable.... - rapperray
Better to move them now. I doubt either wants to resign here. Miller is probably fed up and Vanek wants to play for the Wild. I read that some time ago in an interview I found.

Both those guys contracts are up next season. Miller will be 34 and looking for $7 million per. Vanek will be 30 and looking for $7 million per. Of the two I'd look to move Miller first, but I wouldn't be against trading either of them. |

Actually, starting with Bernier sounds like a good move to me. Then Miller sends his list and whomever is willing to drop their best player under 23 wins the US goalie lottery.
I would move Vanek at the deadline after calling Darren Dreger and accidentally letting it slip he might be available about 10 days earlier. The convos start at next years first round pick and then we talk young roster players and top prospects.
If it wasn't Stafford going to bring back Bernier I strongly consider buying him out along with Leino during the summer.
I also look to add two strong stay at home defensemen before next season. Leopold is no longer a Sabre, Brennan, if he can't be part of a deal, is wished well and allowed to walk. Pardy, who the hell cares, Weber gets another kick at the can.
We bring in a defensive minded coach, draft the best player with the 1 or 2 pick, and try to move other collected picks to move up in the draft again like last year.
We then don't raise ticket prices next year. - nfph
NF, tell me more about the D:
Myers stays?
Regehr not resigned?
Sekera stays?
Sulzer stays?
Hoff not moveable

I dont know NF.... Like letting Drury and Brierre walk..... I say sign them..... - rapperray
Timing is everything. Getting assets back for your best two players is a nice way to start a rebuild.
I am in the get the best pick you can camp, by the way. |

But the Flyers had a good team and could afford to lose them... - rapperray
And the Sabres are so bad, any changes could help. They need so many pieces, and those two would bring the most return. You have to give to get, and we don't have much to give other than them. |

Problem is NF.... How to convince other teams that any player on the Sabres right now is worth anything.......... I truly believe that is a problem.... - rapperray
I agree. Now I deliberately paid for 8th row tickets tonight soley based on the fact that tet fired the coach. They showed they were trying. Now I knew we would lose. At no point could I get upset with the money spent. But they sucked beyond expectations. Teams should be excited to play Buffalo. But I won't go again unless it's free. I just cant see paying any amount of money again for this. The wife and I could have parked in the target parking lot, drank a 12 pack and listened to XM radio and had a far better time. |

If that is the case Sippy then they should trade them even if it for a boat load of 1st and 2nd round picks. Seems the Sabres may have a great draft position this season so do it now if you are going to do it? |

Myers, Sekera, Ehrhoff become your "puck moving D"
Sulzer can keep his place next to Ehrhoff.
Weber gets another turn to lock in a shutdown role.
Regehr is sunsetted, we seek a replacement - preferably one younger than 30. That guy pairs with Myers. |

Only game I get to go to is the devils on the seventh. Tickets were expensive. I'm glad the devils should be fun to watch. |

Since we could never convince people who paid hard earned money for tickets to stay home, maybe when it gets slightly warmer we could stage a sit out. Everyone stays outside of the arena for the 1st period or something. Have a nice empty arena for national anthems. Maybe if we have another NBC game that would be perfect. Send a message to ownership that we don't accept this product. Fire Darcy. |

Where did Vanek ever say he wants to play for the Wild? I'm sure he's said it would be nice to play for Minnesota but I don't ever remember reading about him saying that he's going to play for Minnesota. I'm pretty sure it would have been a big deal if he said that. |

IMO, to pick on any individual on this team is mute. They've all decided to quit together. And poor guys like Ennis, Gerbe and Grigorenko ate just along for the ride. |

Gerbe is terrible. Ennis puts in an honest effort but is just too small. |

Just about thinking 4 years out - that's our new window for a cup, IMO. |

If Miller signs he is NOT going to make $7 million per year. He's making $6 mil right now and everyone knows he is getting overpaid.
And Vanek most likely won't be asking for $7 million unless he keeps playing at a point per game pace. And if he is a ppg player then $7 million isn't that bad of a contract. He's already making that much anyways. |

A quick Google search and I see nothing about an interview with Vanek and him saying that he wants to end up playing for Minny. |

He'd be pretty dumb if he expected to get one. He might come out trying to negotiate one, but that's expected. |

No, why would he? Since that contract his stats have been mediocre outside of one year. |

It was something I read a long time ago. He wants to end his career in Minnesota. That's where his wife is from and her whole family is there. So, to me, Minnesota means Wild.

There's no such thing, but there's no reason to trade them now.
So I guess some other team would have to provide a reason.
Oh, and I did forget McNabb. Weber might be in more trouble than I was originally thinking. |
