if this gets really out of hand and they go on some massive skid from now until the deadline, then maybe you shop him if you can get something in return similar to that Turris deal. right now, i'd much rather the rangers lock up hagelin and mcdonaugh longer term. another interesting question: should they shop staal? what would he bring in return?

can you imagine this blog if it existed in the dark days of 1993?

no doubt this would be the sentiment of many people.

We traded Granato and Sandstrom for Nicholls?

Then we traded Nicholls, Steven Rice and Louie Debrusk for Messier, who granted was great last year, but clearly, he is on his last legs?

we are never going to win anything as long as I live

I'd trade Messier straight up to get Nicholls back RIGHT now.

That year was something else. I still remember a particularly bad home loss to Hartford that really killed the Rangers' playoff chances. That had to be one of my Top 5 most terrible moments as a Rangers' fan.

On another note, how about Chris Kreider for Zach Bogosian? Is that a fair deal? And would you guys do it.

hindsight is always 20/20, i remember my father saying that he was pissed but mellowed out a bit when he saw the size of jeff beukeboom, he was always a sucker for a big punishing defenseman

I seriously have been trying. I think 80% of the leagues defensement are lefty shots.

I kind of like that trade idea, and I am usually resistant to most proposed trades

i feel like the ceiling on kreider is higher than it is on bogosian, he's never really become the type of player i think everyone thought he could be. kreider could turn out the same way, but right now i would say no

i think brian leetch coming back from injury only to break his ankle slipping on a patch of ice in front of his house is top 5 worst ranger moments for me.

Do you think Winnipeg would do it? Who would perceived winner/loser in that deal? Or, would it be considered one of those "hockey trades" like Schenn for JVR?

No no, the OT loss to the Isles in late 92-93 back in the days of no point for going to OT, very late in that yr. Turgeon scored his 50th through Richter's legs. I was watching that game with about 10 Isles fans. Got killed that yr.

Messeir was soundly booed in the season finale in 93, that team lost I think something like 10 or 11 of they're last 12. Brutal. Oh also a home loss to Pittsburgh like 11-3 when Mario scored 5.

i wouldn't really be happy about the trade if it happened. feel like the Ranger's Organization is real high on Krieder. but that being said, i fell like it would be mutually beneficial. both teams would satisfy a need. i'd prefer to get a draft pick, 3rd-5th rd to accompany Zach

Crowd gave Lemieux a standing O. pretty classy, given the venom between the 2 teams. He had just overcame the Hodgkins

Am I the onyl oen that spit out my coffee and went (frank) no? Kreider is 15 games into his NHL career. Let's pump the brakes. Same with all this trade talk. Jeez.

Agreed....the kid is trying to learn the system, it takes some time to get comfortable with all the defensive zone assignments. Last year in the playoffs Torts just told him to go and play and you saw his skill. You got to be a little patient with Miller and Kreider. These guys were supposed to be able to add depth on the 3rd line this year. Not expected to lead the team in scoring. Yes I want to see more, but you got to be patient. Remember Callahan got sent down to the Whale in his second year when he struggled a bit? So glad we didn't give up on him yo lol

I think it's just talk, a little desperation, but maybe a little bit of it comes from the fact that Hagelin may be better than we all thought and there is clearly a void on this team with a power play quarterback, especially someone with a right handed shot that can get the puck on net.

You guys are talking like I suggested trading him for John Scott. Zach Bogosian was the 3rd overall pick in the 2008 draft, is tough SOB, is a right hand shot which the Rangers really need on D, and played 26 minutes for the Jets the other night.

Probably, but I don't know. I asked whether people thought it was a fair trade, and who would be perceived as the winner.

Bogo is wildly overrated just due to his draft position.
