Mike Colligan said Bylsma will put Sutter on 2nd and Jeffrey on 3rd if Malkin misses any time. They will know more by tomorrow. Nothing to report now.

Hope it's nothing serious.

The Malkin play looked fairly harmless until his head whipped. Hope its nothing serious, but we will see.

I'm glad Bennett didn't get that assist, I'm hoping when he scores it will be something to remember, not a gift assist.

Not overly impressed with the Penguin effort. If Markstrom doesn't whiff on Nisky's shot this game was going to come down to the wire.

I'll take the 2 points and hope Malkin isn't hurt too seriously.

That was one of Bennett's better shifts. Did a good job to keep the puck alive

Anybody hear Gudbranson's post game comments on hitting Malkin?
He said he was in a vulnerable position, but how do you pass up a hit like that?

I agree. It was totally clean. But why say that though? Doesn't exactly make people think you have decent intentions out there.

He shouldn't have decent intentions when making a clean play.

That's not what I mean. If he says a guy is vulnerable and hits him anyway, that sounds fishy. The onus is to not hit a player if you deem he's vulnerable. The play was clean but it came from the horse's mouth. Just making an observation. Why hit him if you think he's vulnerable?

I know what you're trying to say. $hit happens. Gudbranson is a pretty big guy. 6'5"

Because in the split second he has to make a choice, let the best player from last year get to the puck first, or help him into the boards.

It's a tough choice, he made the right one, any coach would have wanted that play to occur.

Also the three times I got to take a 4 min look at the game, MAF gets scored on, Pens score in the crease and Malkin gets hurt, I'm glad I stopped watching after that hit.

If he does have a concussion it should alert people to the fact that it doesn't take a head blow to get one, it's the rattling of the brain against the skull, not the type of impact

Well said. No question. I just found it odd that that he said that. Caught me off guard. The play was fine. Injuries happen on all kinds of plays, more than likely, clean ones. And as Orpik44 said, Gudbranson is a big man. Doesn't take much to rock an off balance guy.

Just saw Bennett's quote. He was near the play. He said "I didn't actually see it because I was right near the puck...but I definitely heard it"

I hate being from Chicago fans. They are all saying the hawks have set the record for most consecutive games with a point. I'm like no, it's the most consecutive games for just STARTING a season. I hate those fans

For some odd reason, I see them not winning the west despite this start.

Ya he said he didn't want to hurt him but what is he going to do let the best player in the game walk right in, he hit him clean and he ended up hitting his head when he fell into the boards. He isn't out there to end anyones career.

But I hope malkin is ok.

He didn't even hit his head, it was the rattle of his brain on his skull that will cause the concussion if he gets one

That's what a concussion is, brain hitting skull and causing trauma. To your point, a concussion can be had many different ways.

My money, after watching the video, is more of a whiplash/stinger problem.

As much as I can't stand Malkin (ever since the elbow directed at Giroux's head), I don't wish injury upon anyone. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

The standings are so skewed because of the same division matchups. I'd bet anything if the season started in April, they would not have this record.

Good game Pens. I was surprised we had good legs tonight and were making the smart play most of the time. Back to backs usually are poor efforts from us but tonight I felt like the effort was there all night.

In the end too much time in our defensive zone took the toll in the third period. Markstrom looked real solid except for the 2nd goal which he will say he should have had.

See you next Tuesday!
