Isles trade DiPietro + something really, really good to the Leafs for Komi.

Leafs then buy out DiPietro this summer.

So the trade is essentially Komisarek and $36 million for 1st round pick or Tavares or whatever.

As cheap as the Isles are it would be pretty crazy if they packaged one of their great young guys just to get rid of DP. But you never know.

Daamn that's an expensive pick though, even if it is a high first...I suppose when you print money like the Leafs it's no big deal though.

I'm reminded of when the Lightning were run by those two idiots and the Leafs essentially bought a 4th round pick from them in exchange for something like $700K in contracts. I remember Bettman contrived to take that pick away from the Leafs because of that on some trumped-up charge, I'm betting the league is watching the DP situation pretty closely.

personally, id be opposed to any deal involving an asset IE jt, prospect, pick. seems counterproductive to take away from a rebuilding team. id rther they bite the bullet and buy him out on their own, it may be wishful thinking but thats how i feel.
