I get what Ogie's saying as far as black being an overused color. I agree with you on the hallmarks though, all of those are augmented by the jersey colors to make some of the best jerseys in hockey, if not all of sports. - prd797
I'm happy that hockey doesn't try to get too cute with the sweater colors. I don't know if it's adidas or what, but some of those NBA/NCAA uniforms are stooopid. You can't even tell the names/numbers of the players, because they're all one color. WTF is that.

I was always annoyed with the alternate jersey fads throughout the nhl. They were usually just black
All the "alternate" jerseys did was pad the pockets of the owners and confuse the avg fan that flipped to a game or walked into a bar and saw a black uniformed team playing a white uniformed team. If you recognized one of the teams you still didnt know who they were playing and what city they were in. I understand the need for marketing, but when you put a couple of hockey games on side by side-I'd like to think I would see 4 (at least 3) distinguishable uniforms
Let's hope Q keeps rolling 4 lines and 3 D pairs. Keith's ice time is creeping up there again. 24 minutes isn't bad, but I wouldn't want to see much more. - DarthKane

I follow your logic on the black throwback jersey and many of the alternate jerseys of especially the newer teams. But the Hawks plain black third jersey is PIMP and classic.

That's why they were alternate 3rd jerseys. I believe the Hawks only wore them on Sunday home games and maybe not everyone. I liked them but I never bought one.

Black for most teams is a crutch for the unimaginative. "What should we do with these 3rd Unis?". "let's just make 'em black and keep everything else the same."
At least black is one of the Hawks actual colors, so that makes it marginally better, but I still hate them. So get one now if you like them, because when I own the Hawks, they'll be banished forever.
The other one I don't get is the green Irish Hawk uniforms. WTF? I could see it if the team had ever worn them even once, but to my knowledge they never have. Who would drop the coin on that gimmick?
