If I remember correctly, he seemed to do a good job of sitting in front of the net on the PP early last season. Maybe he can be tried there again. - powerenforcer
With his recent concussion history it would be unfair to put him there, too exposed to the cheap stuff. |

He adds to a strength. We would then have 3- third line centers. Don't see him as a #2C - ikeane
He scored pretty well in Junior and had to overcome some real adversity when his team Captain and best friend Mickey Renaud passed away mid season. Bailey was viewed as potential captain material and projected as a 2nd line center. He can also play either wing.
Bailey reminds me of another player who wasn't living up to his potential when the Hawks snagged him, Andrew Ladd. Bailey isn't as physical as Ladd but he is as fierce a competitor, has some offensive upside and is wasting away in the purgatory known as long Island. Can he be had for a reasonabe return? |

Would hope either Okposo or Martin were the topic of conversation from the Isles. - ikeane
I'd love Martin. Not a ton of offense, but he's the kind of hitter the club could use. I'd have to imagine that Okposo would be a very costly acquisition, even in the midst of a down year and he still doesn't solve the hitting woes the Hawks have. |

But his cap hit is only $2.8 million, which isn't bad. But if we got Okposo that would certainly mean Stalberg wouldn't return next season. Would you rather have Okposo at $2.8 million or re-sign Stalberg at his asking price. - DarthKane
You are right. I agreed the cap hit wasn't bad. But do we actually know what Stalberg wants? A down season this year points-wise could very well clamp on what he (or his agent) thinks he could be worth. Personally I'd take Stalberg at say $2 mil cap-hit for a couple years vs Okposo's current contract. Just my opinion though. |

They haven't technically had a 3rd jersey since 2010-11. You'd have to think they are coming up with something to fill the vacant 3rd jersey slot in 13-14. Loved those black jerseys as well, had a black Amonte at one point. That one's long lost though - prd797
They didn't use any alternates last season? I know I watched most of those games, but after an 82-game season its hard to remember such a minute detail lolz
Sorry about the Amonte jersey...
I have a plain black Toews one coming my way soon |

Hilarious twist if Isles pick up their own player on waivers

Potential is the variable here. Beach was a big Junior scorer, we see what happened with that. The year he was drafted, he was advertised as the 3rd member of the Toews-Kane Line. A big physical winger in the mode of Keith Tkachuk |

Nope, they scrapped the Winter Classic jerseys. Stuck with just the red and white jerseys.
That's great about the black Tazer jersey. After my one year self-imposed ban of buying NHL merchandise, count me as one of the first to get the next 3rd jersey with Toews' #19 on it. |

Does anybody know if they will ever bring back the all black alternate jersey? I know they have been using the old style ones similar to what they wore at the winter classic but I still say my favorite hockey jersey is the all black alternate the Hawks used to use.

Ok than, Beach for Bailey. Neither have lived up to the hype. Change of scenery for both.

I really want to see O'Reilly from the Avs as the #2 center. Watching him play reminds me of a mini-Toews. Never a bad thing to have and Toews can groom him into a pretty good option at #2 Center

I'd take Stalberg for $2 over Okposo for $2.8 without hesitation. I hope a down season does temper Stalberg's demands. $2 million per season for 4 years has a nice ring to it. |

Huge difference, Beach was a known headcase, Bailey was always known as a solid citizen. However you are right about potential, and potential and a buck thirty only buys me a small Timmys.
That said, this is the type of move that I think the Hawks need to make. Going after a guy not living up to his expectations who can be had for a small price tag as opposed to a known quantity who will cost players the Hawks may not be able to afford. Again, that was how Tallon snagged Ladd who was a guy who no one thought was anything more then potential.

You know you can catch Meier on the "G" online, right? He's typically on from 3pm-7pm CST. Still, I miss him with the Stever and Stever is now pay-only podcast (used to listen to Steve's podcasts before he went the subscription route).
