Gotta say i love the black jersey, they look really sharp! Have an old throwback with no # and a black one with Toews. But still love my red Larmer the best!! Great to see Carbomb back in tonight. That line will be fun to watch!!! |

Better than the Winter Classic retro sweater was the 75th Anniversary throwback. I have an un-numbered one, which I love. It's more historically accurate than the WC sweater. - scottak
+1
I've got the Winter Classic but thought the throwback with the barber poles was awesome!

Just a gut feeling but... I think the Hawks are gonna come out flying tonight. |

They can only wear them at home, which hmeans they can only wear black at the expense of red. I want to see the red as often as possible, therefore black = bad. |

I just really wish he would've finally turned the corner on his addiction. Even up to the day he died he was sort of still "operating" like an addict. It didn't seem to me like he came totally to grips with it—and he hadn't fully made peace with it and some people he'd hurt in the process. So I don't know if that's a flaw with the book or with his life in total. - John Jaeckel
I think part of the purpose of writing the book was to try to come to terms with the addiction, and while it probably helped to lay almost everything out on the table, I don't think Bob did nor could completely get over it. An addiction like that burrows really deep and it takes a lot of time and pain to try to dig it out completely.
Probie was on the rise as far as making peace with some of his past enemies but didn't quite get there; I don't think he was able to get a chance to fully reflect his own personal sense of redemption in his writing, and in a way, I don't know if he ever wanted to make good with everyone. So in a way, I think that flaw is represented in the book and his life. |

It worked with Stalberg and finally, Kane. - furso27
Haha, I don't think Kane needed Toews to get him in line. Truthfully think he was just an immature child who had some things to get out of his system. Most men hit that stage somewhere between 13 and 25.
I am under the impression most of the off season work he has done has been on his own accord and with their strength coach. Also think he has hit the point this year where he is more comfortable being a leader/man on the ice. Saw glimpses last year when he took over after Toews went down and now it appears there is some consistency to that dominating player. Normal maturation process.
Thinking Toews is the angel on everyone's shoulder is absurd. Met him twice. Came off as rather arrogant and unapproachable. The kid is a winner but not this mythological savior that is some kinda father figure to everyone else. |

Grew up listening to the Stever (jr high on WDAI and then the Loop) and Gary. Resisted the urge to listen to Stern at first and was gradually won over. It seems like toward the end Dahl just sort of phoned it in where you could tell Stern actually worked on his shows and had good celeb interviews.

Once he was off sonw, his body was in constant pain from his career. Then Pain Killers came into play. It was hard to read because I loved Probert. Growing up in the 90's both he and Tony Amonte were my favorite Blackhawks. I even had a soft spot for Zhamnov after he did the one-handed move in Detroit. Pain Killers are the drugs IMO that need to be monitored much more with Athletes. |

I don't know how to do that, but it's a moot point anyways, because like I said earlier, when I buy the team they will be gone forever. |

Does anybody know if they will ever bring back the all black alternate jersey? I know they have been using the old style ones similar to what they wore at the winter classic but I still say my favorite hockey jersey is the all black alternate the Hawks used to use.
These ones:
God I miss those jerseys.... - Ballam
YUCK!
Glad they retired those. |

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was odd Toews was getting credit for Kane growing up and taking the next logical step in his career.
Nice post

I felt the same way when I met 19 the first time. Very disappointing. Even HOSSA was (slightly) friendlier than Toews. It was really unexpected.
Nicest players on the team I have met are Bickell and Stalberg |

Hate to pull out the whole "2010 character guys" thing, but Campbell and Brouwer were two of the nicer hockey players I've ever met. |

I remember those. I had the Loop girl Lorelei hanging in the room. Not actually her, it was a poster.

Tarasenko on IR for STL. Oops.
And Montreal in first place and the Devils tied with points. Woah. Could all change very easily but not something I expected to see. |

So much for the NYR "best team on paper." Not doing particularly well. |
