Mistakes happen though. Even the best players have off nights. Talbot has been better more often than not since joining the Flyers.

He has been, but he's had games where he has made repeated mistakes. Same with guys like Coburn. I'm not singling anyone out, just saying that the vets need to eliminate the rookie mistakes

Agreed. My only problem is even vets make rookies mistakes at times. The problem is they shouldn't be making those mistakes consistantly.

If it was once in awhile, I wouldn't mention it, but it's been repeatedly happening to too many vets.

The issue I worry about is the same issue as last season which is the inconsistant play in their own end by both defenseman and forwards.

It's more or less the same thing I'm talking about.

Look at Coburn last night. There wer three or four shifts early where he's out there not really doing much of anything. Can't really bench him, because that means extending the time of Gervais, which is already a proven issue or that of Timonen, who struggled last night in his own right.

Last night was no surprise to me. I expected the Flyers to get beat after playing an emotional game against the Pens. Coming back home and playing the Panthers was definately a trap game.

With the current schedule its hard to get a lot of practice time in to teach the mistakes. They can watch video and show them but we all know doing it on the ice during practice is much better. I shouldn't make excuses for the Flyers b/c when it comes down to it they are underacheiving.

Fatigue, despite my constant joke making about the issue, really was a factor last night. So I didn't expect a win but the aggregious mistakes by veteran players even in non "fatigue" games has to make you wonder.

Hard to get a pulse on this team because they are so inconsistant on a daily basis. You never know what team is going to show up and play that night.

I was hoping there wouldn't be a let down, but even so, the kind of mistakes they were making were just so bad...And despite the big win, they were not stellar against the Pens, either.

Right now I am hoping the Flyers just hold on until the schedule lightens up a little. They have a 6 day break in March I believe. If they can just stay in the hunt during this brutal 1st half, I think they can make the playoffs.

Your correct. Defensively they didn't play that great against the Pens. However, the 5-3 PP for 6mins definately helped Pittsburgh out.

The Flyers shouldn't be a tired team b/c they have a lot of young legs. The mental mistakes they make are mind boggling at times. Just seem to fold under pressure.

I think anyone would be tired after the stretch they are on right now. Their schedule is brutal. More so than any other team in the league IMO.

And that was mistakes by 3 veterans. Knuble was careless with his twig, Fedotenko tripped his guy, and Talbot covered the puck.

Every single team is going to have a stretch like the Flyers. The schedule stinks but you have to find a way through it. Not like they are 30 games in.

Another one of the problems that isn't being corrected. Don't take penalties and the game is over. Same thing in the Florida game. Penalties in the 2nd period hurt a chance of a comeback.

Hard to argue that. Fed and Knuble IMO shouldn't even be on the roster. Talbot flat out made a bone head mistake. You are right though those players should know better.

No question. This team takes too many penalties. Most of them are just lazy plays.

This is my point. They need to just get through their tough stretch (which has been season long), and when their schedule lightens up, other teams, Like the Bruins for example (5 less games!) will be getting more difficult.

The Flyers have already had 6 back to backs. No one else has had to deal with that yet.

Just hold on boys.

With the injuries they have, they need these guys to dress. The only call up right now that could step in and be expected to do anything is Wellwood.

For some reason, people don't appreciate, or simply just aren't aware of what Fedetenko brings to a team. Excellent move by Holmgren. Knuble was brought in because of injuries, and has played well.

You just have to hope that even when the schedule gets light this team performs.

To add, the Bruins dont play again until Sunday. So by Saturday night the Flyers will have played 20(!) games while the Bruins will have played 14.

Just hold on boys.

It is a hope I have some confidence in. I doubt this team has had a real practice in weeks.
