Speaking of defense, there were 9 guys drafted in the first round of the 2006 draft. Outside of Erik Johnson, none have played more than 50 NHL thus far. there are more guys from the 2nd round and later drafted that have done better. Its just a crap shoot

It really is. Spending a top round pick on a defenseman doesn't mean he'll be a stud. John Slaney was a 9th overall pick.

Duncan Keith was the 16th defenseman selected in his draft year.

It's funny, but even up here in Canada, we get a lot of Flyers coverage on tv. Sportsnet has Hockey Central at noon and MaClean, Kypreos and other are not that bad IMO. Generally, they are pretty unbiased and knowledgeable. None of this Flyers need a goalie or they will never win and on to the Leafs kinda lazy garbage.

Yesterday, the lead story on all three major sports networks version of talk shows up here was the Flyers Pitt game and they did some solid analysis. One of the networks went so far as having a top ten Flyers Pens rivalry moments list... Awesome.

Says last years problems had to do with him being the new guy and just getting to know the team and everything.

Compared to Russian fans- struggles to explain- in some ways the same others different. They all support the team, other way where he played in Russia not as big as fan base, 2.5k in a stadium.

On this years struggles: Woke up this morning and thought about last night.. in 31 days they play 19 games.. its a lot. Crazy schedule and travel.. it can be tough to find emotion and energy for every game because of how crazy its been.

On him playing most game in NHL: Doesnt feel he needs time off, we dont have the luxury of having off.

Everytime I wear that jersey I do my best to give the team a chance to win the game. I want to win.

Yeah the Flyers' hockey thing will get blown out of proportion (again) and I won't be surprised if he gets bashed for saying the rest of the team isn't important, just his job.

It kind of surprised me that he was appearing on the show. He's one of the most scrutinized athletes to play in Philly in recent years and isn't a native English speaker to boot.
