Shero picked him up, and it hasn't worked out. One of those potential low risk, high reward type of deals.

Yup. I feel bad for the player more so than the organization that claimed him.

He was given an opportunity to play with Malkin and Neal and failed miserably. If you can't produce playing with those guys, it's probably not gonna happen. Rutherford let him go to get Chad LaRose more ice time. That's pretty telling.

I'm sorry but I would make the Voracek/Couturier/Cousins for Carter trade every day of the week and as much as I LOVED Richards, I can't complain about Schenn/Simmonds and the pick that became Grossmann for Richards. Luke Schenn has had a few rough games but overall, I've been very pleased with his play. Does it suck losing JVR? Absolutely. but that was the price. this defense would be far worse without Schenn. Eminger....absolutely a bad trade. at least he (along with Downie of course) was turned into Carle. Homer has made bad deals but he had also made some very good ones. I don't have any issues taking Couturier over Hamilton. Its not like the Rangers taking Sanguinetti over Giroux. Couturier is a good young player with so much upside.

just taking a quick poll.. do people honestly believe that the Hall on Clutterbuck hit was a hip check?
- jak521

Looks like Hall was trying to hip check him but judged it wrong and ended up leading with the knee. Didn't seem intentional.

who had lost his taste here in philly. he lasted how long in TB? And they got what in return for him when they traded him.. a rental d-man.

Now he is in his third city on his third team and is out injured. He would have made one hell of a Flyer though. Sure fire all-star.

A line that contained both Steve Downie and Zac Rinaldo would have probably drawn a minor the second they jumped over the boards.

Poor Boychuk. They put him on a line with Malkin and Neal and he STILL doesn't produce. Hasn't played in the Penguins last 3 games after getting moved to the 4th line.
- NickTheKid87

It's a shame for him. He's too small to be an effective checking line player and not skilled enough to be a legitimate top 6 guy at the NHL level.

Pens say they want to give him more time to develop but I'm sure the leash is short. Wouldn't be surprised to see him waived again.

I just laugh because of all the people that got upset the Flyers didn't claim him and he fell to Pittsburgh. I remember people being really tweaked.

I agree that I dont think it was completely intentional, he was definitely trying to hit him though. Here is my problems with the hit. He came from the blindside, leads with his knee (which also makes contact) and hits Clutterbuck after he already got rid of the puck.

If the roles were reversed the world would have ended last night. "Clutterbuck is a dirty player just trying to hurt people" is what would have said by a million people. But its Taylor Hall.

Clearly led with the knee and is a suspension-worthy play.

I'm not even sure it was knee on knee.

More like thigh on thigh, thereafter, causing Clutterbuck's knee to hyperextend?

Very borderline, in terms of discipline.

Disgusting in my opinion... I hate that stuff. I was on Clutterbucks end of a hit like that and it dislocated my hip. Stupid play.

Agree on all accounts. Definitely an illegal hit (whether it was meant to be or not) and the double-standard is definitely true.

Looks like he was crouching for the hip check but misjudged the whole thing. Tough to bail out at that speed in that short of time. Either way, an illegal hit, IMO.

pause the video at the point of contact. From a physiological point, (pardon me, I tend to get to scientific with this stuff) he is squatting when he delivers the hit. Is it possible to squat and still lead with the thigh?

Seriously? A recap by anyone listening would be interesting.

I'm specifically curious to get his take on the meteor that hit Russia.

Legacy just arrived last night. Blue ray will be watched this weekend. Got the BR/DVD twin pack so my son can watch it on his player.

They also got pretty lucky when they drafted Lundqvist in the 7th round. Sort of like how we got lucky with Giroux. Maybe we're due for a late round star?

How about an undrafted Solid top 6 guy in Matt Read?

Gotta say, even with all the injury woes we've had, I feel so bad for Ottawa right now. They just can't have nice things this season.
