#Isles GM Garth Snow on potential buyout of DP: "We haven't given that any consideration at this point." - faceto27
You know your team is run poorly when Leafs fans can openly mock you with no fear of reprisal. What a disaster zone. |

No way that organization drops $24 million to buy him out.

good question, I hope its like StL, or Phoenix where it doesnt really matter who is in net, the def system in place is what matters.
That said, I think Riemer is the #1a, scrivens 1b - senstroll
i think riemer is more then a 1a...i think by the time olympic camp comes around i wouldnt be surprised to see price as the number one and riemer as the number two or three goalie |

So what that he's been one of the best face off men, Steckel is very good a face offs too. He is a marginal offensive player, and a average defensive player. His limit is a 3rd line center. And we already have players for that. If he was part of the future, I think they would have signed him by now. The fact that he hasn't been signed and is a pending UFA tells me there really isn't a spot for him going forward. - faceto27
Remember that starting this year, there will be a period prior to guys becoming UFAs where teams can talk to the players.
My guess is that if the Leafs lock down a better centre, Bozak will be gone.
But if they can't get anyone, he becomes their plan B. |

Mac or kulie will be gone soon I would bet .... Once frattin and lupul are back there is no space
I would rather keep Kulie |

Unless someone else gets hurt.
Short season, compressed schedule. Injuries are going to happen. |

Ditto,
Mac has his moments. He's nothing spectacular, but he has decent hands, and seems to bury chances he gets.
He'll fetch us a draft pick.
I wouldn't even mind giving him away if the other team agreed to take a contract like Liles |

The easy way out is sending Frattin back and disguise it as a conditioning stint until a trade is made or waivers. |

So what exactly is a compliance buyout?
After the NBA underwent a similar salary cap lowering and adjustment this past offseason, teams were given the option of a one-time amnesty buyout. Under basketball’s rules, for any player bought out through the amnesty provision:
The player is still paid in full
The team gets to remove his salary from their books for cap and luxury tax purposes
The player enters a bidding pool of teams that are under the salary cap
Teams can bid to assume some (but not all) of the player’s contract and the highest bidder is awarded the player
If no team claims the player, he becomes an unrestricted free agent
they have to buy out dipietro in full so they actually have to pay him the 36 million remaining. |

In the new Collective Bargaining Agreement agreed to recently by the NHL and the NHLPA, clubs were permitted two "compliance" buyouts to take place during the 2013 and/or 2014 offseasons in order to ease the transition to a lower salary cap.
The new agreement allows teams to use one of those compliance buyouts prior to the start of this season. However, the player's full salary for the 2012-13 season still would count against the team's cap. |

Liles will play before they call up Gardiner - Fruitcakenipple
Fair enough.
But right now they have Lupul, Frattin, and Reimer on IR...when James comes back, they move Rynnas back down.
When Lupul of Frattin come back, they call it quits for Gunnarsson for the season by getting the docs to demand he get surgery. That leaves 1 tough choice of potentially losing someone to waivers...likely McClaren gets the shaft.
This is what I would if no reasonable trades are shaping up... |

Ya not a chance in the world. I heard Wang was trying to sell the team. I'm sure the new owners would want that contract off the books before any deal can be done. |

that early compliance buyout window ended a while ago hince the prior to the start of the season. dipietro can not be bought out right now. |
