K so I crunched a few numbers to see what our cap situation would hypothetically look like.

We have 17.1m in space. I'll post an estimate of what these guys could get

Mac 3.5m
Nazem 2.5
Bozak 3.0
Komarov 1.0
Orr 1.0
Mclaren .8
Gunnar 2.0
Franson 2.5
Kostka 1.0
Frazer .8
Holzer .9

That's 19.5m right there. I was conservative with what guys would want. That would mean we'd need to find 2.5m in savings somehow.

I would be willing to throw the idea of letting Mac walk around, as his point production doesn't make him that much more useful than Kuli's 2-way play.

If we can dump Liles and Komi, we'd create a 5.5m buffer. Something we'd need for Kessel's new deal, along with the likes of Frattin and Reimer

MacArthur won't be resigned. At least I highly doubt it.

2mil prorated for this season, 3.75 for next season. dont you think theres a reason he took that deal? so he can make his full 3.75 next year
- habsrock71

Hey buddy, since you like misc. stats,
Kessel is 15th in assists this season
Last year he was 21st in the NHL in assists

Not bad eh for a one dimensional goal scorer....
who only finished 6th in the NHL in goals

Liles/komi, Connolly and Colborne for Dipetro and Strome

Thomas returns to play for Isls.

It all makes sense now

Mac is a goner
Nazem.... yes
Bozak, there is a reason why he is still not signed. Likely won't get resigned.

The rest are okay, except I'd knock off half mil off of Franson

Along the lines of what I was thinking.

If everyone was healthy, it'd be hard to put him into the lineup

Bozak's been one of the best faceoff men in the league.

He's been more effective than Grabovski, who's now set for half a decade

5.5 buffer? I thought it would be 8.375m in compliance buyouts.

So what that he's been one of the best face off men, Steckel is very good a face offs too. He is a marginal offensive player, and a average defensive player. His limit is a 3rd line center. And we already have players for that. If he was part of the future, I think they would have signed him by now. The fact that he hasn't been signed and is a pending UFA tells me there really isn't a spot for him going forward.

8.375 minus the 2.5m I overshot in my salary projections. So it's closer to 6m buffer, not 5.5

Needless to say I think Nonis has his work cut out for him.

While I'll give Loops the benefit of the doubt as injuries weren't holding him back. That Grabs deal could really haunt us

If MacArthur gets 3.5m then we are in trouble, I doubt he even gets resigned.

Can't help but feel there are going to be a couple of trades within the next 10 days. Too many better players coming back from injury that spots need to be opened up.

Nonnis must have a master plan, and is just waiting for the pieces to fall into place for it to all happen.

good question, I hope its like StL, or Phoenix where it doesnt really matter who is in net, the def system in place is what matters.

That said, I think Riemer is the #1a, scrivens 1b

going to get interesting in the next few weeks, but it looks like so far the plan is when 1 player is ready to return...a different player gets hurt and is put on IR...wouldn't be surprised that if no trades happen, than Gunnarsson is put on LTIR to get surgery, and Gardiner is called up.

I think the Islanders have just 6 forwards and 4 defensman, no goalies (one waived) signed for next year, the good news is their best players are signed.

edit: they do have some ELC signed.

Liles will play before they call up Gardiner
