Here are some happy Leaf stats to start off a friday for everyone
Goals for: 7th
Goals Against 8th
Fighting Majors: 1st
Hits:1st
Tied for 4th in the conference, 5 points clear of 9th........
They have an Identity and a game plan and a solid coach now.
I have a good feeling that the 18 wheeler is going to stay on the road this year - billyberg10
What is there.....30 games left?
Way too early....as a leaf fan you should know this. |

Not helping with my issue of balancing my optimism and realistic/pessimistic (same thing sometimes) approach.
btw, anyone know a site that updates standing by win/points percentage? I looked up one called "true standings" or something but they aren't running for the shortened season. I'm just not a big believer in the points based standings when there are games in hand situations. |

NHL.com does it, but doesn't sort the teams by conference.
Go to team stats, and sort by point%
Toronto is 10th in the NHL, 5th in the east, btw. |

I've been told in this very forum, by Leafs fans, that making the playoffs is nothing if you don't win the Cup. |

I know it's early to be watching the standings, especially this year considering all the games are within the conference so someone is getting two points every night and the stupid 3 point games could mess things up...still, we're in a decent spot right now.
I think people are over estimating the Habs being at #1 because the Bruins are two points back with three games in hand, IMO it's pretty clear they are going to take the division barring an epic collapse or serious injuries (note: I'd be saying the same thing if the Leafs were there right now). So that leaves us right around the Habs/Pens mark fighting for the 4-6 spots. You have to think it's only a matter of time before Ottawa drops off, especially if Anderson is going to miss a few weeks. The Rangers can make up some ground and it's hard to know what will happen in the SE, hopefully one of the Lightning and Canes drop off so it's just the division winner that gets in.
There's still lots of time for us to drop off but hopefully the buffer we've created between teams like the Flyers and Jets will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season. Plus if we are going to be adding Reimer, Lupul, Frattin and Gardiner back into the lineup that should give us a huge boost. Barring any other major injuries which can happen.
My optimism is starting to pick up whereas usually I live in a zone between very cautiously optimistic to darkest shade of pessimism. Unfortunately that makes me wary that an epic soul crushing collapse could be on the horizon because this is the Leafs we're talking about. Kind of a cacth 22 scenario, really. - deerow84
I won't do it. I won't look at the standings - I did that last year and where did that get me. And I'm not superstitious either (333 left, right, left, right, 333, tap once , tap twice...arrow up arrow down...send!) |

It's a step in the right direction for a young team.
But the goal is to win the cup. |

I can't remember who it was, but it was someone visibly irritated by the fact the habs beat both the Pens and Caps to make it to the conference finale.
It was pretty funny. |

And even if you win the Cup, it doesn't count if the best team in the league that year didn't get in to the finals because they were robbed of their rightful place by an idiot refereee with great hair who missed a high sticking call.
