I wish the Leafs would use the Columbus model of team-building.

The day they traded for Jack mother(frank)ing Johnson they were (frank)ed. He's the pooptiest amazing athlete in the game. He plays 27 minutes a night...but is (frank)ing brutal. But you know, he can play that much so...congrats! Can't wait until he breaks the NHL record for worst +/- he's on pace for it, karma for forcing the Canes to deal him after he said he would play for them and drafting him 3rd overall.

I'd trade Reilly and a first rounder for Tavares and DiPietro.
- faceto27

I think anyone would...... I would kill for Tavares ..... KILL

John Moore is ruining as we speak sadly.

At this point, I'd put the lock on Kessel and probably JVR, everything else is free game for JT.

Obviously, ludicrous to talk about though.

That seems too high to me.

Don't ask me to explain it.

I'd rather go the Islanders route. They're almost not an embarrassment.

Yes, but how much do you give for him. Essentially it boils down to, what is $24 million worth in player talent exchange.

One would never have thought that Gretzky would have gotten traded. Where there is a will, there is a way.

hopefully they get screwed again and not get the top pick

It would really suck to see a talent like MacKinnon go to waste like that.

Lets try this another way. What would you say would be fair compensation for the Isles if they wanted to dump the contract and we wanted Tavares as part of the package??
- faceto27

IMO, the league is far to invested in "competitive balance" (i.e. socialism) to allow a pure money transaction at that scale.

Can't believe how slow the Sabres were last night.

They really are lacking foot speed

Unfortunatly

Some might say the Kings were turned around by Sutter...I dunno, JMFJ was dealt around the same time as the dominance.

well if he does go there one could hope that he is developed enough to be a top player already. in doing so would hopefully bring some excitement to Columbus and help them sell tickets.

On what grounds could they reject it, though?

Cap circumvention? Not really. There's nothing about buying DiPi + picks that circumvents the cap.

Realistically, you make a trade involving players and picks along with the cash(buyout) it would be similar to the Gretzky trade.
