85 assists in 298 games is not an elite passer - habsrock71
I thought that goalies were sooner or later going to figure out that he is going to pass the puck?
I'm all for trolling, but you really need to pick a bridge. |

Kessel is a playmaker in the sense of, when he gets the puck on his stick, he is going to make a play. |

Kessel is tied for 2nd in the league for shots on net.
Let's just say I'm not too worried goalies are going to start playing the pass instead of the shot.
Or maybe I'm hoping they start to do that. - Atomic Wedgie
Doesn't matter what goalies do.
His shots are lazer beams.
His passes are slightly less painful laser beams, but hell they always land right where he wants them to.

more of a serious question then trolling...your man said he has always been an elite passer but he has not been, its only been over the last 2 seasons his pass has developed to be a bit above average. |

Why? Has he played with guys who can score? So he makes plays to set up guys and Joey crabb can't score and be doesn't get an assist that means he's not a good passer? Awesome. |

No poop tips, who were his line mates?
Now that he has guys who can score, he can get the puck to them instead of taking a bad shot.
He's can score a ton of goals, and is still a shooter, but he is also under rated when it comes to making plays and passes. |

Agree. Wouldn't mind seeing Kadri get more icetime up there.
Hard to take Bozak's faceoff hands off a unit, so it'll come down to the 2nd unit.
Kadri can play with the likes of Frattin and Loops once everyone's healthy.
Keep Bozak with Kessel and JVR.
Then bring Gardiner in to help gain the zone, something missing last night - AngryWhiteMale
There is a few scenarios the Leafs have to mix around to decide how the PP is structured. Eventually I hope RC settles with two definitely lines so that those guys can figure out a game plan.
As for Gards, I don't think anyone is in any rush to throw him back into the line up just yet - despite his excellent play in AHL. Doz brought up a good point yesterday, he only has 3 games left before he is waiver exempt. Think about that. |

So what do you guys think will e the contract demands for some of the guys we have to keep?
I'm not gonna go nuts and say Franson keeps this up, but he will be getting more ice time.
he makes 1.2m now.
Would 3yr/9m suffice?
Also, Kostka is a UFA, but he would be a good candidate for a hometown discount.
Gunnarsson is an RFA and will want something in the 2.5 per range
Holzer should be a cheap resign too.
Just means Nonis needs to deal with Komi's 4.5 and Liles' 3.8. |

It's a few things at once:
- he's maturing - he no longer only thinks "shoot"
- he finally has guys to pass the puck to
- and he's probably getting a little better at it, too. |

In Boston, he played with Savard. A passer.

It's scary to think of the thought RC will have to put into the lines once everyone gets healthy.

Lupul Grabs Mac
Kulemin Kadri Frattin
Komarov McClement Brown

Also, what's this you say about waiver exemption for Gardiner? He's on a two-way, no? |
