Technically the team Burke built is on the ice for the Bruins.

And they've won what? Picking 2nd and 3rd overall is the easy part. |

The team JFJ built is on the ice for the Calgary Flames, thank God.
More importantly, JFJ's team isn't here and that's nothing short a miracle in and of itself.
Look, for every mention of the Kessel trade, we could easily find 5 that worked in our favor. Some spectacularly so. |

He's not a set up guy, he's a finisher.
You give him a team that already has the core in place but can't seem to get over the hump, and he can put the finishing touches on it. - Scruffton

I still don't get why Burke was fired right before the start of the season.
Was he really about to get Luongo? |

Because he was useful to the team and league during the lockout (when trades weren't permitted).
But the new owners did not want him at the helm when the phone lines to GMs' offices were re-connected. |

His moves were not all good, but he made more good ones than bad ones.
The Schenn for JVR trade is so far, as expected so one sided in the Leafs favor it's sad. |

Van Riemsdyk has been a good replacement for Lupul on the line with Kessel and Bozak so far, with Buffalo struggling the Leafs are going to win most likely. - Thehabsfan93

This.
They didn't want Burke to represent the team in any way shape or form once the season started. Shad - up - Burke...basically. |

Picking up Gardiner and Lupul for a freebie.
Picking up Franson for a freebie... Lebda
Somehow getting Sutter drunk enough to make the Phaneuf deal.
Versteeg for a 1st + 3rd.
Dumping Blake for a quality, veteran back-up.
Kaberle for a 1st, 1st round prospect, and a second.
Turning that 2nd rounder from Boston into Liles.
Schenn for JVR (might end up being the best trade he ever made here, surpassing even the Beachemin to Anaheim deal).
Fraser is looking like a nice little steal, too. |
