Sabres should hire Jon Cooper the second his season ends in Syracuse.

Ok, put down what you are smoking right now!
Everyone blames Ruff for our demise, and I understand that!
Why don't we realize that we don't have much talent here( Thanks to Darcy, whom should have been fired a long time ago!).
If you are trying to tell us that we are going to make a run like Pitt did in 2009, you are completely out of your mind!

- Sabresfan88

I never said they'd pull it off. I just said this is what they're trying to do. I never said they should, and I stated as much.

Tell me about it!
These people are out of their mind!
I actually feel bad for Lindy!
Darcy never gave him the talent he needed here to win.
And then Lindy had to take the damn bullet for Darcy.
It is a shame!

- Sabresfan88

We are definitely not the 2009 pens.

I 1/2 feel bad for Lindy. But he's a big boy, knows the score, and is still getting paid.

Right!
However, Darcy is the pathetic GM that got his team into this mess, and as the result, to save his own bacon, had to dismiss Lindy!

I think the same fans who compare us to 2009 pens are the same idiots who make decisions insabreland. Ron ruff rolston is playing porter,Hecht,Scott, gerbe and stafford

I'm not expecting mega sucess from this coach firing or any 'miracle' run to the playoffs. I just think this represents letting go of the dream of '99 and 2007. This will start a true evaluation period.

Yep, that's how it works though. It's like the military. Each officer rank has it's job, and every one of those jobs involves taking a bullet for the next rank up.

did you hear darcy on the radio when they called him out on saying lindy is his coach going forward, what a peice of garbo. Does he think we beleive him it was his decision.

He had the best team in 2006-2007 and failed to turn the best regular season in franchise history into a cup. He didnt even reach the cup.

That was his best chance, and he couldnt do it. So if he couldnt do it then, he wasnt going to do it now.

Just seems it's like this:

1) Fire Lindy.

2) Bring in a "new" coach and give the guys a chance to turn it around (if not make a playoff spot, just play better and win more than lose).

3a) If this happens, Darcy stays and Rolston gets a chance to coach next year.

3b) If they keep poopting the bed, then it's the team and Darcy is gone as well.

I also have the feeling Darcy has been told this in no uncertain terms.

- nfph

yeah that sounds about right. you could feel darcy realizing he was a dead man walking when bucky asked him about if he felt safe and he said "todays not my day"

thats one of the best analogies ive seen. Its how coaches and execs always have a job if you want one. Take a bullet and someone will bring you in.

Rolston has been running Lindy Ruffs system in Rochester. Once he gets settled in you will see the real Ron Rolston. A couple things you can be sure of. The team will be well disciplined .

Rolston is a thinking mans coach. He approaches hockey with an analytical statistical knowledge that will surpass that of the majority of coaches.

Lindy made decisions based on his gut most of the time. Rolston will base his decisions on numbers. I would expect the Advanced charts to look more appropriate in the near future. You will be seeing more O-zone time for are skilled guys. I don't think you will see Hecht taking as many offensive zone faceoffs.

I don't know if we will get better results, but I do think we will see a vastly different approach.

The next 20 games will answer the questions-Can this roster make a serious run or do major changes need to take place? Is Reiger doing a good job as GM? Do we need to rebuild from the ground up?

05/06 was a better team they just broke. Everyone agreed that the 06/07 was flawed but had regular season success. They got ousted by a hot team. Sabres were flat/cold going into the playoffs and had a really hard time.
