You are correct about 28m (according to Capgeek),
They also have to sign 7 other players so if you give them minimum 8m per(other teams will be lining up to do so) then you only have 12m for 7 players......Hmmmm. - longbottom
Cap space shouldn't be the issue. They sooner let Koivu/Selanne walk, or at the very least get them to cheaper deals. Then you could move Cogs if you need space and Hiller.
Keep in mind Getzlaf did take a discount before, so there is the possibility that both sign for similar money to now.
The key really is the willingness of ownership, which if they continue to play the way they do will be there. |

No.
No team will be giving either of them 8 mill. I could see 6.5 max. - Iggysbff
Considering they each make 5.3 now and if they get to the open market I can see 7-8m each. |

Kassian is going to have his bumps, but let's try and remember one thing Canucks fans: he's 22 and he has more goals this season than Hall and Nugent-Hopkins combined. Things could be worse. - systemtool
Saw that...Esplen is such an idiot....getting to Cloutier homer levels...I wanna post in that thread calling his ability to be a blind douche out...but i don't want the ban |

No need to be humble about Arnie action flicks. He wouldn't want it that way. - Salvo
No doubt. A more acceptable course would be to say "Its a good movie....FOR YOU TO DIE AFTER!", then blow up a castle and make your escape on a motorcycle. |

Do they want to leave though? Getzlaf apparently meet his wife there. Not sure what Perry's situation is, but if he's single why would he want to leave?
It's California and even if you are gay I'm sure the beaches work for you. Especially since you've done pretty much everything at the NHL level that you'll ever do. |

Yes when I looked up Anahiem on Capgeek the seven players I said needed to be resigned and or replaced included Selanne/Koivu since I do not think either will be there next season. Cogs I can see them trying to move. Lydman might be expensive to resign but Lovejoy might be had cheaply, It all depends because they have 3 RFA's that should resign at 1m or lower too. |

In terms of (Canadian team's) prospects and the hate they get all the time, I find it really funny that people always say "Gagner was rushed" or "Kadri is a career AHLer" when it seems most evident that few players are able to step right in and be world-beaters.
Gagner's doing fine. Kadri's doing fine, Hodgson's doing fine. In 2-3 years Mark Schiefele and Mika Zibanejad will be doing fine. It's almost as if prospects take 4-5 years to develop into serviceable NHLers, eh? - Morris
hell yes - which we are of course in the middle of with our team.
If I had an Oiler word of the day calendar it would or should contain stick figure illustrations of the fab five and the caption: Patience.
And the whole concept of "rushed" is somewhat mercurial. I think in many cases guys are going to be who they are going to be. I remember the rah-rah about Brule being rushed by Columbus, they "ruined" him. I don't buy it. Gagner as well, would he be better if he spent a year or two in the AHL?
Who knows. Can't throw a blanket over it one way or another. Cite the bloody case where someone was "ruined". I want someone to prove it.
Anyway, not to say the AHL shouldn't exist - needed levels of development are clear and present but we can certainly get caught up in ascribing an answer to a very fickle situation.

That is the whole question though. I have heard many interviews with the Anahiem color guys and they haven't got a clue to an answer. That is the whole thing we'll find out by the TDL. If they go on the market ANH is prolly thinking they want out.
If they go to the open market you can bet someone like Philly or NYR or even Tor offering 8m even with the Cap going down. |

I HIGHLY doubt Getz goes anywhere. His wife flat out wont move. I bet he resigns in the 5.5 range for a couple years. Perry may be traded at deadline of not signed. I think he'll get a multi year 6.5 mill deal somewhere with a chunk of it in Bonus $.
Edit: I'll say Perry gets 12 yr 70 million bucks somwhere |

LOL your too funny. Your saying Getzlaf would resign for a 200k raise?
Minimum raise for RFA's is 10% so saying that an UFA if he went for Min raise would be 530k at 10%. Considering they both are still considered Elite by more than 1 team, who knows what they might get in the open market and in a bidding war. |

Micah is his puppet...is why I stay out as much as possible.
Most of the bloggers here are terrible...they need to find ones that dont troll...Glen Miller, the new guy for CBJ is a good writer....wonder how long it takes him to fall into the desire to troll the other teams for hits...
Esplen, Clouts, Calgary blogger (I aint about to try and write his name)...all troll , only 1 does not have a hometeam ref... |

Agree, Getz is entrenched in SoCal. It has always been rumoured that Perry wants to head back east, closer to home.
Even though Perry has a Hart, big, Skilled centres like Getz are pure gold. |

The one guy yesterday or the day before or the day before on Gregor's show really seen no issue with keeping them. He was the one that said if the team is well the money will be there, even look at them adding at the TDL. |

a minimal raise is considered a hometown discount. His wife is from cali...he is happy there, he wants her happy...he has a Cup with this team and they can compete even more with money saved from him taking a discount...no reason to believe that he wants 1/2 mil raise, or that he will leave. |

It wasn't about money last time, so maybe Getz takes a decent deal to keep the team together again. |

So (frank) his wife is the key to get him on the open market.
I might not have much to offer that Getz doesn't have, but I have hair on my big head. |

Maybe he is just not concerned about beaucoup bucks to play...5+ million a year, get a year deal...they are still set for life after he retires. He is looking at how his life is arranged right now and works for his personal happiness...good on him.
Maybe he moves to SJ, maybe LA. Either way I bet he wont go far. |

Pretty much agree with this. The one thing saving ANA is that both LA and SJ have a lot of centers already, so there might not be room. |
