Many reasons, 1 goal again, dont understand these odd man rushes over and over every game. thought Dubnyk was mediocre again too
- hugefemale dog77

Dubnyk wasn't outstanding but he was the last reason we lost tonight. It shouldn't be up to him to win every single game for us.. Dubnyk kept the Oil in the game until late in the third, and that's pretty much all you can ask for from your goalie on a nightly basis. We need to start scoring more than one goal per game.

Ya, I remember Hall even as a rookie - when he wants line someone up, he's a crusher.
- Salvo

Yaks is way way harder to knock off the puck... Further he does hit hard... Hall vs yaks as rookies - i would say yaks.... apples to oranges here...hall has 2 full nhl seasons on yaks... Comparing today's events is BS..

I'll have to look at it again but it looked to me like Hall just braced himself, Clutterbuck jumped and ended up hitting his Quad on Halls hip.

Could be, close call.

I don't know where you saw Clutterbuck jumping, but like I initially said, it wasn't a dirty hit.

Hard to say if it was dirty or not. It looks bad but I don't think he came in there planning for that. Hard to say but more than likely gets a game or two. Tough break
- LeafsFan64

Its all a roll of the dice. You can bite a guy and have nothing happen. You hit a guy from behind severing his heal and taking him out for the season and nothing happens. Knowing the NHL Hall will probably get a Torres type suspension.

Personally I think hall realized he was going to hit him at the last minute and tried to put the should into him to brace himself. Pure instinct. I have replayed it about a dozen times and I don't think there was no way either could have intentionally planned to make that type of contact at that speed. Hall leaned in clutter swerved and got the Halls thigh right in his middle. No player is dumb enough to do a knee on knee as it could end your own career. If he was trying to hit him he would have swerved left towards him instead of continuing horizontally across the ice. Hall is just not smart enough to plan that type of hit, no one really could.

Turnovers. And offensively they looked bad, not like their goalie beat us. It's frustrating.
- doon

Turnovers are definitely an issue, although I've see nights much worse than tonight from the Oilers in that regard. The lack of offense is probably the most frustrating thing right now, especially from our top line. And the most frustrating part has to be that they are getting a ton of chances. They have looked excellent on the cycle but just can't finish any plays. Another big problem is the fact that we don't have a third line. The way I see it, right now we have 4A and 4B lines. We really need Jones back for starters, and as much as some fans will try and deny it, we are missing Horcoff dearly right now. Nuge and Gagner are horrendous in the faceoff circle.

Where the (frank) is Eberle? The top line is really starting to piss me off! Nuge has got to start putting up pts... Eberle was nonexistent again... (frank) this is bullpoop to watch... And to top it off smyth gets a goal the Lone (frank)ing goal... Cullen like Torres is an oiler killer! Bbc and fistric did play well tonight... Dubey did not have a great game either! Lotto time again

Im generally not 1 to blame goalies unless they played terrible. Which wasnt the case. He just didnt look like he was gonna make the big save. And i certainly dont agree he kept us in it by any means tho.

And what hes done for us earlier this season has no bearing on this game. Hes been mediocre in 2 straight starts. But no, it certainly wasnt his fault tonight

It wasn't an amazing offensive game. We finally hit some people which was good but this again has to come down to defense. They had all sorts of time to shoot from good locations on Duby. Time behind the net. We two men in one corner at times then two dmen out front at others. Sometimes the dman was the last guy back.

Shots were the same and a quick look over the stats appears we out hit them by a bunch. Again just no consistency defensively.

i really wonder are the top 6 trying to be too pretty. pass, then pass, then pass...then...give away and opposing team rushing down the ice 2 on 1 and puts the puck in net.

I would say switch Yak and Hemsky. Hall has played with Gagner and Hemsky a few times over the last couple seasons and they've always looked pretty good.

Its vomit central Krueger better start getting pissed off at the kids... These games are 4 pt swings... We play like we have tonnes of time left to turn it on... A few more games and half the season is done... (frank) is all I can say...

As someone who does not hate our rival Edmonton Oilers but rather enjoy your style of play and young talent.

I ask you this....

In a year where your main boys were likely the freshest coming into the regular season, What do you guys see is the problem. With so much talent You guys should easily be in the top 6-7 right now.

Is it defense....? From what I've seen Dubnyk has been great against us all year. Is there something im missing?

The players DO have to trust the goalie though. That is huge. We had a passive box going. The second goal was scored because the dmen were guarding the net and left Cullen alone. People were too busy blocking the shooting lanes and not the passing. The goalie should have the shots and the players should play their zone/man. Not this group of 5 guys all trying to block the shot before it gets to Duby. He is not a bad goalie but the players have to believe that or it affects how they play in their own end. You trust your goalie and you can be more aggressive and with Edmontons speed and skill we should not be doing a passive box defense.

Time to split up Nuge and Ebs. They're not producing as a unit right now.

Harti got spot top 6 time tonight. Might we see a more balanced three-line approach in the go-ahead? Good opportunity for Harti or MPS if Hall does get suspended.

I wonder... Is it a team effort to not try a (frank)ing slapshot from the point or a pass for a onetimer to yaks? It was hard to tell if the team feels yaks is wearing an oiler sweater or not? No (frank)ing love from any line that he plays on... Piss poor passing always trying to thread the needle on an impossible pass instead of the simple one... Big time frustrating and not utilizing the skill we have...

Cohesiveness. They simply do not play as a team and they haven't bought in to what Krueger is teaching.

Trade all the kids for first rounders this year and start over again. I'll be better tomorrow.
