i think i missed what pierre and doc said during the fight but did glass and simmonds play together in jrs or something before? just seemed at the end that glass had a free hand and couldve romped but held back until the linesmen came in
- Crimsoninja

Nope. Glass was a NCAA guy and is 5 years older than Simmer. I think that it got to the point where they were mutually worn out and agreed to just hold on until the linesman broke it up.

Despite his rip on Briere, Glass is a guy that's an honest player. He was in a fight a few games ago, and his jersey got caught around his head. The guy he was fighting held up until he was freed and Glass made sure to give him a thanks on twitter after the game.

The worst part is, McGuire could be a fantastic analyst. The trouble is, he gets to praising individual players to the point of distraction. There was one sequence that he reviewed and broke the play down perfectly and explained exactly what was happening on the ice in language anyone could understand.

Then he ignored a goal to discuss how great Crosby was on a play that happens dozens of times in a game.

- Jsaquella

McGuire absolutely knows the game and the players. Just too much of that other stuff thrown in.

when he calls letang, "kristopher", it reminds me of Adriana from the Sopranos...kinda gay.

He did that with Pronger, too.

I find it funny, like Crims.

I'd much rather pick a player in the first round.

rather have a Dman with the #1 which still could be a lottery pick?

Bad move to trade a #1 pick for a backup Goalie who chances are, isn't going to play much.

In my opinion what Briere does is when a player is taking advantage of lack of physicality, he will throw in a cheap shot to try and one, protect himself, and two, to try and buy himself some space.
- MJL

It absolutely gets him some space. He's a little guy...he's gotta do what he's gotta do.

You let a young player play and learn from his mistakes. He's one of their top defensman. Look at the other options.
- MJL

I agree to a point. He has been making the same wrong plays for his whole NHL career. Might not hurt for him to see the game from the bench to gain perspective.

Not saying the other options are better. Just saying Schenn needs to cut out a lot of those errors.

I actually really like Schenn. He has good aspects to his game. He just needs to clean up the decision making to become an above average defenseman.

Dresses like the proud manager of your local H&R Block. Also, once in a blue moon he's exiled to Alaska via hijacked contest.

You can get a backup much more cheaply than the price of a first round pick.

For example, the team the Flyers are playing tonight are carrying three goalies....one of which is their "goalie of the future".

One of those other two are going to be looking for a backup job in the near future, which muddies the market.

It's more than a 1st, and in this draft class, I'm not trading a first rounder. There's zero need to do so and they Flyers have far more pressing needs.

I wouldn't mind Theodore if they decide to stick with Markstrom.

I thought Rinaldo did a nice of job of basically trolling the Penguins on the ice all night. He nailed Engelland a couple of times and if Engelland wasn't such a pylon, maybe he could catch Rinaldo and hit him back.

As for Letang....he's a MUCH better player, it seems, when he's not trying to prove how tough he is.

- johndewar

he did hit rinaldo once, however he somehow ended up being the one bouncing off rinaldo

i'd like to see how that shiner looks today he got at some point in the game

Your 100#1 right. When briere came into league there wasn't a lot of smaller players. He had to play a little dirty to create his space. After rule changes not so much needed. He was very dirty early on with buffalo but it is understandable. Even liked a little

It's dirtiness in a sportsmanlike way. He does it in the spirit on competition, much like Chase Utley is dirty. They're is no malicious motivation, it's just part of the game.

Is Boucher confirmed as the starter or is Bill just making a logical assumption? I wouldn't mind either goalie.
