The worst part is, McGuire could be a fantastic analyst. The trouble is, he gets to praising individual players to the point of distraction. There was one sequence that he reviewed and broke the play down perfectly and explained exactly what was happening on the ice in language anyone could understand.

Then he ignored a goal to discuss how great Crosby was on a play that happens dozens of times in a game.

- Jsaquella

I remember he called Chris Kreider "all-world" in his first or second game of the playoffs last year. Pierre does know his stuff but he starts idolizing. He was going on about Vladimir Sobotka the other night like he was going out of style.

Pierre was fawning over Giroux last night and I noticed no one complained but once he mentioned Crosby, Twitter exploded.

He has a ton of jump. He is all over the ice. I was screaming at him when he took the penalty and then noticed the defenseman whose name i cannot remember turning his back a few more times during the game when he saw a hit coming.

Bortuzzo I believe it was. Either way, you gotta hold up. I still keep him in with Read gone but if you're a marginal player, you gotta be smarter than that.

Love Harry Z's speed and grit, but he plays out of control sometimes and it cost him last night.

Glass got in some good shots also in that fight.

I score it a draw or slight edge to Simmonds. Not as lopsided as some flyers fan would score it.

I have his prospect card from that year and I'm still waiting for him to get an opportunity. Not sure what LA is waiting for. His stock is dropping fast.

Lombardi is not usually a guy that makes bold trades. He probably has a price in his head and nobody's met it yet. It's like Gillis in Vancouver. Lombardi has to avoid that situation.

In fact the only reason Vancouver doesn't have an issue on their hands is probably that Luongo and Schneider are not only good buddies, but because both guys are really good guys.

Luongo on twitter is one of the best athlete accounts in all of sports. He's a riot.

Yep. He picks a guy from each team and it's puppy love for the entire game.

I don't wanna hear him fawn over ANYONE the way Pierre does. It detracts from the broadcast not to mention the fact that the guy's style borders on kinda creepy.

It was a very even bout. I think it was a draw, both guys landed shots.

i think i missed what pierre and doc said during the fight but did glass and simmonds play together in jrs or something before? just seemed at the end that glass had a free hand and couldve romped but held back until the linesmen came in

Cant remember what they said but it looked like simmonds had a good grip of the jersey and glass couldnt get the arm extended. They were laughing a bit after the fight.

Briere's got some 'dirty' in him; he just picks his spots and is sneaky about it.

And Glass is a yapper. It's about the only thing he brings to the game.

- tangent_man

In my opinion what Briere does is when a player is taking advantage of lack of physicality, he will throw in a cheap shot to try and one, protect himself, and two, to try and buy himself some space.
