I would welcome Giroux on this Pens team without a second thought. He is a great talent. The fact that he is on a Rival team is the only thing that clouds it for most people. He does miss Jagr, and Hartnell (Is Hartnell back tonight??)

Including the year where he outskated Gonchar while on the PK, got to the loose puck, skated behind the Pens net twice and threw a pass between 2 pairs of skates to Gagne for a SHG? That was his rookie season, and led the Flyers in points despite being 8th in TOI/g amongst forwards on the team. He was pretty good that year too.

Not sure I would consider a team-leading 5 points in 6 tightly fought games after only half of a rookie season forgettable. It wasn't the 16 points in 6 games of last year's first round but it wasn't terrible. Actually, it was that series that began his rise after a mediocre rookie reg. season.
