And I don't feel like doing the research. But I'm guessing in the 3 series sid has had against the flyers he's put up some nice numbers too. And won 2 of the 3 series. Both on the way to the finals. Once on the way to a cup. So ya know. Not bad

Merely pointing out that Giroux's .8 becomes 1.75 in the playoffs.
- BOSS_TWEED

Technically, he has 55 points in 50 games career in the playoffs, or a 1.1 ppg average.

Crosby has 90 points in 68 games for a 1.32 ppg average

Malkin has 81 points in 68 games for a 1.19 ppg average

Crosby (Washington) and Malkin (Carolina) each have playoff hat tricks. I think what you wanted to say was "Only 1 has never scored a playoff hat trick during a Stanley Cup run"

- bri29smith

No, that's why I said "I think." I knew Crosby had one, wasn't sure if Malkin had one.

Flyers should move that bum Giroux for a few mid-round picks while they can, after that 1 freak year he had.

Keep up the good work John. It's like a Cloutier blog. Say stuff tongue in cheek and watch the rival teams outraged keyboard heros ratchet up your hits. Love it! and thanks to you leafs and flyer fans for getting suckered right into it!

Giroux is 1.75 ppg vs the Pens in the playoffs. What are Malkin and Crosby ppg's vs the Flyers in the playoffs? I'm guessing they're not higher.

Agree.

My favorite sub-plot for this game is that this will be the first Pens/Flyers game in two years where Sidney Crosby looks like Sidney Crosby again. He was not the same player in last years playoffs and same for the first game this year. He's now back to being the best player in the world.

Didn't this start out as Crosby's/Malkin's points per game against the Flyers and Giroux's against the Pens? If not, I apologize.

I read page 1 and could take no more... Sorry if someone wrote anything interesting in the last 5 pages but the guy from Toronto ruined me and should lose his right to post.

John you are to blame... This blog is just asking for the trolls!

The Flyers are riding high on a victory over the Islanders but the Pens need to stomp that happy feeling out of them. Kill any hope they had. Nothing can take back how bad we played against them in the playoffs but the Pens can do themselves a favor and prevent the Flyers from getting into the playoff picture.

4-1 Pens Dupuis gets 2 tonight.

I've already said Crosby is the best player in the world ... and that I hope Giroux can get there (and stay there) in the near future.

My point is more in response to the post by dbell646, who pointed out that Crosby/Malkin had a much higher ppg vs the Flyers in their careers than Giroux has has vs the Pens.

BossTweed pointed out that it's worth noting that Giroux has played great vs the Pens in the playoffs ... and that's no small feat.

Giroux had one good series against the Penguins. His other series against them is forgetable.

I have to work too. I'm going to watch it online, but I can't really concentrate on it here. Hopefully it's a good game, I will go home and unwind while watching it on the DVR with a couple cold beers.

It's funny, I wasn't even thinking in the context of Lavy's comment last year. I just think after a very average/tentative start to the season, Sid has been pretty dominant once again. Haven't seen that guy in a while

Anyway, it doesn't seem like this board needs me to kick the hive... Looks like JT took a crowbar to it.
