Please it goes both ways.
Both teams got away with things they should not have in that game.
The only thing you should be complaining about on that first goal is the poor job done by the defense.

I find it funny that their are quotes out there implying that the Flyers are doing something wrong and bating the Pens into responding. Both teams seem to forget the rules when playing each other.

1. Agreed.

2. Baloney! A goalie must be allowed to attempt to make a save. He can't do that with an opposing player laying on top of him. The play should have been blown dead and a 2 minute PP awarded for goalie interference.

3.Yes, they do. Too much. Just play hockey.

Clowe. Clowe. Clowe. Wheeler. Wheeler. Wheeler. Clutterbuck. Clutterbuck. Clutt..

I thought repeating it three times each I'd get my wish for this team.

Could also make the case on item 2 that Letang should have had a penalty shot called against him for covering the puck in the crease.. Specifically in the clip below from 43 seconds to around 45 ..better shot at the end..

"67.4 Penalty Shot - If a defending player, except a goalkeeper, while play is in progress, falls on the puck, holds the puck, picks up the puck, or gathers the puck into his body or hands from the ice in the goal crease area, the play shall be stopped immediately and a penalty shot shall be awarded to the non-offending team. See also Rule 63 – Delaying the Game."

I actually thought a 2 minute penalty should have been called on Letang for laying on the puck in the crease (maybe not a PS, as he never covered it with his hand; not sure on the ruling). As for goaltender interference, I just rewatched the video. Why was Vokoun out halfway between the crease and circles while 9 other players were at the crease, only to jump back into the crease face-first?

I'm not so sure that is a problem. If he never played it with his hands then there shouldn't be an issue. As far as Vokoun goes, he came out of the net a few times last night. I didn't like him doind it at all. That was a mess obviously. At one point or another I expected them to blow it dead just because they might not have known where the puck was then it squibbed loose.

That's only true for a play outside of the crease. As another poster pointed out, NHL Rule 67.4:
"If a defending player, except a goalkeeper, while play is in progress, falls on the puck, holds the puck, picks up the puck, or gathers the puck into his body or hands from the ice in the goal crease area, the play shall be stopped immediately and a penalty shot shall be awarded to the non-offending team."
They didn't call this (which would have premeditated the goalie interference) or the goalie interference, so...whatever, done.

canadianpenfan!!! Long time, no see. Been busy with buying a new house, having another kid, suffering through another NHL lockout...you know, the usual stuff. The old gang is getting back together.

Congratulations on all that.

Also, this was a special "flyers" blog, John doesn't usually write like that. But looking at the comment count i'd say it did what he hoped it would.

There's no way either of those goals were goalie interference. Thought the refs actually did a great job maintaining eyes on the puck. Penguins were laying down everywhere and the only reason a Flyer was on Vokoun is because a Penguin put him there.

I agree but I thought a whistle could have been blown on I think Simmonds goal when Vokoun had it under his pads and then it was poked free. Could have went either way wish it would have went ours. Pens have to learn you can't beat the Flyers at Flyers hockey.

As crazy as this may sound.. The refs were fantastic last night.. for both teams.

100% hands down, the best regular season hockey game i have seen in a long long time.

Wish I could have been there in person..

I said the same thing last night. The penalty to Sutter was the only call I would describe as bad. But they could have called so much more ticky tack crap.

Could of went either way. My bigger concern is Simmons and every other Flyer being able to whack at the puck on the doorstep all night. Got to put those guys on their ass.

The let the teams dictate the play. I hate when they are the ones to set the tempo of the game.

I also hate how dramatic James Neal is

In all seriousness.. fantastic game. I love to hate you rats lol

It was the Adams elbow call if the one you are referring to. Yes it was horrific.

The Adams call was pretty bad. Then again, Zolnerczeick got sliced open with a stick and no call was made.

After he shoved Bortuzzo into the boards head first? Ya, probably weren't looking at the stick there, more concerned that he got up.

The adams call was weak..
The Rinaldo makeup call on Letang was weak.
The fact that Harry Z got cut should not have been a call considering he was down basically face first on the ice and was pushed into a stick which was not used in a reckless manner.

Rinaldo did his job last night. I never witnessed a plug have every defenseman giving up positioning to take a shot at him.
