I don't know if the Flyer fans are complaining about the pentalies late in the 3rd, but everyone of them were warranted. There even was a blantant high stick on Sutter that didn't get called, even though we all know it wasn't going to.

They absolutely were. I'm actually surprised Talbot didn't get an extra two for screaming at the ref when he got called for closing his hand on the puck. They've been handing those out like Halloween candy this year.

I thought that was a good game. I won't give excuses and say it was the officiating's fault. We just allowed a couple bad goals and that made the difference in the end.
The best we could do is just match the phisicality of the street bullies because in the end we have the better squad talent wise.

Yeah, there's no way to argue with any of them. Flyers got lucky there was only 1 goal over that span.

I dont agree with this..

What I will say is the Pens have more high end talent then any team in the league with Malkin, Crosby and Neal..

Where I think the Flyers have more talent then the pens is across the rest of the lineup

Giroux, Briere, Simmonds, Read, Hartnell, Schenn, Couturier and Voracek

How could you dismiss Kunitz, Sutter, Letang?

Edit: I agree you have "younger" talent though.

Really sucks. I think Skinner was playing on Jordan's line. He'll miss him for sure.

Calm down dude. He pointed out the high end talent (Crosby, Neal, Malkin) without mentioning the Flyers top talents (Giroux, Hartnell) the same he did when he left out the Pens depth while metioning the Flyers. I don't think anyone would deny that Kunitz and Letang are very talented players. He said he "thinks" the Flyers have more talent depth, you're more than free to disagree.

If I were Shero I'd start looking for a big top 6 forward around the league (which I think he's already doing)

I'm calm coolio You know, he mentioned like 8 guys from Philly (including Giroux and Hartnell) and only 3 from the Penguins. Just thought the other guys were worth mentioning, that's all. Case closed.

What would you think the Pens could offer for a top-6 winger such as a guy like Brouwer?

Im not dismissing Letang as he is by far the best Dman on either team though I was surprised to see Paul Martin has the same stats as Letang to this point in the season..

Im also not dismissing Sutter or Kunitz..I just think the Flyers have more depth beyond the top 3

Please dont take the following as me saying these 3 = the pens top 3..Only Giroux belongs anywhere near Malkin or Crosby...

TOP 3 Pens
Malkin, Crosby and Neal

Top 3 Flyers
Giroux, Hartnell(obviously he his coming off an injury but he has been one of our top 3 players for 2-3 years now), Voracek

Next 2 Pens
Kunitz and Dupuis

Next 2 Flyers
Briere and Simmonds

Next 3 Pens
Cooke, Sutter and Kennedy

Next 3 Flyers
Read, Couturier and Schenn

As a side note you could make a sick team by combining the various players into one unit!

I think the question should be... How much longer do the Pens give Bennett on the 3rd line?

He only had 8 min of ice last night. I know they want to break him in slowly, but he's not a checking line forward. If he doesn't get a few games on one of the top 2 lines, he should be returned to WB.

I thought Schenn was higher on your scale.

Whom do you (fans)prefer on your team: Couturier or Schenn? I know they are different kind of players but who's got the most simpathy from the crowd?

I think a piece or two are missing, but I think the glaring hole is the lack of discipline on the team in certain situations and that I place blame on Disco Dan and Crosby.

When the Pens came out in the first half of the first period they were focused and played "their" game. When the Flyers realized what they were doing they went to old predicatable reliable...they got in the Pens heads. It happens every game with these two teams. At this point in both Dans and Sids careers, they should be able to spot, adapt, and mitigate this issue and quickly yet they dont. Crosby at some point needs to take ownership of the team on the ice and get them to focus and not let Malkin or Neal or Letang take horrible penalities especially when they are being goated into them over and over again. Just like Giroux did and was constantly being mentioned over and over again last night, he needs to start calling some players out for their lack of judgment.

Last night should have been a 5-2 or 5-3 game but again they let the Flyers get under their skin and it threw the entire flow off.

Maybe a checking line player is what we need on top 6. Right now I don't see the speed and phisicality on Bennett. He will be a contributor but just think he's 1-2 years away from that.

In my opinion Couturier gets more sympathy..I think its as much to do with people were just amazed he was avail at that point in the draft. Plus he did as solid a job as you can do on last years best player in Malkin at the age of 18.

Schenn is having a solid start and is actually 3 on the team in scoring.

If I was GM I think that Couturier gets the Flyers a higher return then Schenn..

Agree. Spending the rest of the game on the end of the bench is the way to send a message. They don't seem to respond to pre-game conversations. Disco is a major fail in this area.

Here is a reasonable explanation.......It's a Pen's blog
- cap1681

So all objectivity immediately has to go out the window? Is that what you're saying? Apparently you've NEVER read a single blog by Bill Meltzer for the Flyers. Just because you cover a team doesn't mean you have to (or should) toss objectivity aside and be a complete homer to the point of sounding like Garth (for the Sabres). Good God Almighty!!!

Can't argue except we have no idea if Bennett can handle top 6 duty 'cause he's only gotten a few shifts up there. I really think they should put Bennett with Sid and give Kunitz back to Geno for a few games to see what they have.

Ultimately, this team could use a bigger forward or two in the top 9 for sure.

I just hate Disco's system. Beyond the dumb penalties, this team has NO structure. They could have easily lost to Peg,Ott, and Buf. I think they were outplayed by Peg and Ott and Buf was 50/50.

Bylsma's system won't win in the playoffs.
