Probably means Hiller is on the out. Huge fan of Jonas.

If the Flyers land Yandle.

Would anyone feel comfortable heading into next season with the current group and him? Or would we still be looking at improvemets.

This team needs more than a guy like Yandle imo. A better kind of player.

- flyer_nutter

I agree, if only because of Yandle's cap hit. That's a significant investment, one that could be an obstacle should a deal for a top defenseman become possible.

I'm in the minority that thinks when the D is healthy it's petty solid. If you add Yandle and another you replace Gus and?

Timo/Cobunrn
Mez/Schenn
Grossman/Gus

- jstross

I think we have a pretty solid group when healthy..

Ill also say that if Gusty plays routinely the way he did against the Isle, he is top 4 material. He was very very solid on Monday.

Id have it more like

I'd prefer a guy who is better in his own end. Not that Yandle is awful, but he's definitely not as good a two way player as a Timonen or even Carle. But Yandle would buy some time to find a more complete guy via the draft or could be flipped in another deal.

That said, he's an all star level offensive defenseman, who isn't terrible in his own end. Good player to have, especially considering the Flyers needs.

I will take Foster's shot. Maybe he can blast one home.
- PLindbergh31

Its a shame it takes him so long to get that shot off... it could be even more dangerous if he could release it right away/

Would probably look good paired with Cobhorn.

Here the scoop this year Flyers are not trading for anyone...
- nonpoint22

Should this be true, this fact would be the cherry on top of a very dull cake. This isn't the worst Flyers season I have ever.followed but I will claim it to be the most uneventful. At least the last place season saw us shop out Forsberg for a huge return that turned out to be Timonen, Hartnell, Upshall and Parent. Then you had the minor deals that brought up Coburn and Biron. Very exciting finish at least that set up the next season.

Possible. Hiller is more proven. Only concern is his vertigo. Just seems like a big commitment after a short test drive

this is after the 2013- 2014 season
- nastyflyergirl

That is a year and a half away and so much can change. JayBo could be had if the Flames slip out of playoff contention. He is playing much better under Hartley.

Non-Flyers: Anaheim resigned Viktor Fasth to a 2 year deal for $5.8mm.

I see people saying good deal on twitter about this and I have to wonder, is committing 2 years and $2.9mm a year to a 30 year old with 9 games of NHL experience that great a move?

- Jsaquella

People have trouble with the concept that guys can start hot to the point that they are playing 10x better than their actually talent level. Happens in every sport. Look at Boucher's rookie year. If we're basing him off of that start, he's a top 5 goalie in the league.

They'd be a very good pairing. Let Coburn focus on his own end, and Yandle focus on the offense.

The anti-Carle guys (which I'm one of) probably would find fault in Yandle's game. Defensively he's basically a Carle clone. Not physical at all, mistake prone at times... the difference Yandle's offensive ability is superior to Carle.

I hear you. For a 6/7 d-man, Foster hasn't been bad imo. He's a +1 and has 5 points in 12 games. Sure that doesn't paint the entire picture, but he's been ok.

I would. He's no Weber, but he's as good as Suter for a much lower cap cost. And he's only 26.

i could see moves if we fell out of contention to ship out veterans and try to free up cap space and gain draft picks for the summer.....If and only if we have a down year can I see this playing out but if it does this will be the summer that Homer legacy as GM will hinge on....even more then the Carter and Richards trades IMO

For the record Yandle has really stepped up on his D game. In the past I considered him a little weak but believe me he has really improved big time. I have Mike Smith in keeper so I watch every Coyote game and Yandle is solid. Phoenix as a team is probably the best coached defensive team in the league and Smith is solid and that translates into lots on shutouts and one goal victories.

He's miles better than he was a couple years ago. I worry that's part of the style they play and that unleashed in another system, he'd be more lax.

Agreed on Tippett. If anyone can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, he can

That actually worries me a little too.. When we got Bryz I wondered if he was really that good or just a product of that defensive system in Phoenix, Bryz is starting to show he is as good as advertised, but maybe Yandle or any coyotes d man would struggle in a offensive sysytem like the Flyers.....Just a thought

they should buy out briere regardless, but perry is obviously very interesting provided the contract it would take to get him here wouldn't handcuff them with g/schenn/couturier extensions. even if they don't land perry or deem it to be cost-prohibitive, plenty of good top-9 wingers available this summer.
