On this team he is. Yes if he was in say buffalo he'd be a 2 maybe top center but we have g and schenn. Just like Pitt has Crosby then malkin and what happened?? Bye bye staal.
- SMS4016

Again, you refuse to factor in the future. I'll reiterate what I said to you last night. When Mike Richards started with the Flyers he was a 4th line Center. They should have traded him then. Because he was just a 4th line Center on that team.

Anyone else find it completely ridiculous to tout how good the young core is, then in the next breath suggest trading one of the centerpieces of that young core away?

Call it a poll.

- Jsaquella

I don't find it ridiculous. It depends on what you're getting in return like any other trade. I'm certainly not trading a talented young center for a 30 year old defenseman but if the return is an early to mid 20s talented defenseman for a team that has 7 forwards 26 or under that can play top 6 roles then it's more than just a consideration. It's plausible.

I don't want to derail this into a Lindros discussion, but there is a school of thought out there that Lindros should still be in the HoF strictly based on his dominance over a short period of time in addition to her PPG (points per game) numbers which, apparently, are pretty good.

I don't think he's a HHoF guy, but I look forward to the Flyers doing the right thing and having an Eric Lindros night.

- johndewar

Pretty sure forsburgh is going to be in hall. Lindros was a beast early in career though. Would have liked to be a fly on the Wall in those days

Team captains Crosby and Claude Giroux don’t seem to like each other. Crosby is not a fan of Jakub Voracek’s gloves, either.

Sean Couturier will likely be charged with the task of slowing down Evgeni Malkin.

Brayden Schenn will probably try something dirty on Crosby, like this and teach his brother Luke these same bad habits.

Daniel Briere might try scoring another goal despite being offsides.

Really??? I said trade a core piece coots as long as you get a core piece that's needed on this team (puck moving pp dman ) that's young even if we have to overpay a little. In Picks or low level prospects. So I'm nuts how??? Dmen more important than centers. Your going to pay a little more. Would you rather of had Brian leech Or John madden. No brainner. Just an example
- SMS4016

Laughton projects to be like John Madden. Couturier projects to be a more offensively gifted Jordan Staal. Oliver Ekman-Larsson does not project to be Brian Leetch, in fact, the closest thing to Leetch would be Erik Karlsson.

And if Couturier was only going to turn out to be John Madden, you might have a point. But his upside is much higher then that.

Again, I'll repeat what I've said to you multiple times. I'm not against trading either Couturier or B Schenn for the right player. If it makes the team better, I'm all for it. This has been stated to you multiple times, by multiple people. We're no so much against your premise, as we are the specific trade proposals you have presented. Other then your insistence that Bryzgalov is an average Goalie, and is too old.

Not even going to start this discussion on the Flyers thread, but if your really offended by that postings of a blogger on HockeyBuzz, then you not as tough as you say you are. They are words, no where near some of the hate that both Pens and Flyers fans spew on these boards all the time against each other.

Bill does a great job at explaining how trading works. It's not as cut and dry as you seem to think.

Good point. For the record, I am totally against blind hate for rival fans/teams. Rivalries are a lot of fun but hating cities/players/fans just because of the team is crazy. It's basically hockey racism.

and you don't think Holmgren will do something before then to sure up the defense? I am in no way ready to make a panic trade now for 2 seasons down the line.

Letang will be a UFA then

Bure is in, so Lindros should be, too. More games, more points, and a slightly higher PPG average.

Giroux hands down. He is a top 10 talent in the league. The rivalry between Crosby and Giroux will be fun to watch over the next 5-7 years
- cap1681

I agree on all counts but I will ask why again that you feel this way. Giroux point totals are down and Richards defensive play is much better then Giroux. Richards has also won't every hockey championship there is to offer. So again, why Giroux? I agree with you but why...?
